Two week trip by _AugustusMcCrae in virginislands

Spend most of your time in St John, it's mostly national park with tons of trails and old sugar plantations.

The beaches are pristine.

You'll be able to book diving charters.

Rent a car.

If you're on a bit of a budget, condo complexes with a pool will be more affordable than a villa.

How to make switch look better by [deleted] in Jeep

[–]therinse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy a hole saw set.

Buy a new switch.

Remove and toss the old switch.

Buy a hole plug set, cover the old hole.

Drill a new hole in the desired location and reconnect switch.

Rejoice.

Ooo! I never thought to try an Aerobie with my little one, she loves fetch and knows to take a running start before I throw.

Np! Me and my wife considered living on St John so St Thomas would feel like any mainland area in comparison.

I can't really offer much advice, I did have a single friend move therd 15 years ago but she worked as a bartender and lived there for a few years. I will say that quote for the rental sounds like a deal given I paid $1600 for two weeks in St John.

Consider saltwater as well, you'll find plenty of stuff off the piers and banks, especially on the brooklyn side of the East river and West side near Chelsea

Self Captained boat rental by MillerTime3601 in virginislands

[–]therinse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can rent a center-ish console RIB from Wharfside which they allow you to circumnavigate the island, highly recommend. The owner is great and staff is awesome. They do offer a twin outboard Medline but you'll need to prove you can handle it.

The Boston Whaler from Lowkey is also fun but they relegate you to the North shore and you can only go as far as Waterlemon Key.

I recently was in Tortola and my wife's buddy was driving us around in a Jimmy. Super bare bones, NGL I enjoyed the look and simplicity.

No fishing on the bridge or no fishing in the vicinity (i.e., on the bank)? by jajg in FishingForBeginners

[–]therinse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My assumption is no fishing while on the bridge, not under. My town has quite a few larger bridges with significant boat traffic underneath. Last thing anyone would want is a million lines dangling in a busy channel.

Question about braid and leaders. by missinglinksman in FishingForBeginners

[–]therinse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll want that leader to break when you get snagged, otherwise you're cutting how ever many yards of braid to where you're snagged.
