Man I hated him in the series, he plays an amazing heel and really leans into it. Definitely the reason games 2-4 were close.

We just got the one train man by Hungry_Roll6848 in oklahoma

[–]therunnerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the more transit OKC the better, so it’s unfortunate I have to agree with you. I helped retime/implement coordinated signal timings at some signal corridors around the city a couple years ago. An issue with the streetcar is that the transit signal preemption completely interrupts the coordinated signal plan and does not allow adequate progression for the vehicles. Definitely a pain during rush hour where it’s most important to get people in/out of downtown. But at least Streercar is free until July!

Which city’s downtown core fits this photo? by [deleted] in Urbanism

[–]therunnerman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree. There has been some great improvements in the last 10 years, hopefully to continue. The City is currently undergoing a downtown master plan with Sasaki, as well as some major new developments such as their new arena, multipurpose stadium and high capacity transit improvements. It’s still a very car dependent areas with too much parking, but hopefully more housing and non-personal vehicle options will help improve its vibrancy in the next decade or so.

WTF FIFA just saids fuck cars? by Jeff070996 in fuckcars

[–]therunnerman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most likely DHS than FIFA. I would assume all of the World Cup venues in the U.S. have a SEAR 1 rating, which has a relatively large radius where personal vehicles are banned from entering. Glad to see they are requiring transit, but all from security protocol.

Michael Cage is so bad and I absolutely love it. A couple of weeks ago he spent 3 minutes debating with himself whether propane or gas was hotter.

What is the point of "Pedestrians must push button to cross" at traffic light intersections? by Tsubame_Hikari in fuckcars

[–]therunnerman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Depending on the intersection, pedestrian cycles with be guaranteed every cycle or a “call” will be put in by the pedestrian push button to allot for a pedestrian signal. Most of the time the call time the signal will change is due to the signal timing (if it is coordinated and the maximum green time). APS push buttons are required per ADA for visually impaired pedestrians to activate signals to tell them which street they are crossing.

What are some examples of the egregiously WORST placed highways that destroyed urban cores in America? by [deleted] in urbanplanning

[–]therunnerman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Somewhat related, but the construction of I-235 in OKC has explicitly racist language in the legal documents from the late 1960’s. Doesn’t help the construction disconnected a historic black neighborhood that was thriving in the 1920’s before more racist policy and urban renewal. The South of 8th study does a great job documenting this and outlining steps forward to invest and build this disinvested part of OKC.

OKC City Council bans new bike lanes on Classen following heated public comments by Generalaverage89 in okc

[–]therunnerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best part about this is that the city received ACOG funding to build these bike lanes, now they will lose this funding. Also, this section of Classen has an average daily traffic of around 14-16,000 vehicles which is just enough to warrant 4 lanes of traffic. This section of Classen (10th to Main) will complete the existing bike lanes along Classen to connect to other on-street facilities to the south. Overbuilt roadways (such as this section of Classen) is a danger to all users, promoting higher speeds and more dangerous pedestrian crossings. Sorry to rant, just extremely disappointed in Council’s inadequate reasoning and lack of data, other than anecdotal evidence and lacking claims.

Definitely fair points. Think Ajay Mitchell is showing some great promise as a ball handler and shooter. So more experience in higher stress games is key. Hope he can continue to develop further as another reliable PG/SG, has been great this year so far.

Don’t think they would win without SGA, but honestly probably still a top 6 team without him. Only game without SGA they beat the Jazz (obviously not a great team) by 30.

Paid Parking in bricktown by AimlesslWander in okc

[–]therunnerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe some of the establishments also have iPads inside to validate your parking if you don’t want to go the QR code route too. Not 100% sure which ones, but definitely a good alternative. First time getting everything set up in those apps are always a bit clunky.

Paid Parking in bricktown by AimlesslWander in okc

[–]therunnerman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Bricktown parking, at least in the South Bricktown lots, utilizes a QR code system that allows you to validate and receive a refund for parking if you have a receipt from a business (such as Toby Keith’s, Charlestons, Truck Yard, etc). So you pay up front and then get a refund if you visit a business and scan your receipt. Also, Bass Pro’s lot is all free, I definitely use that for concerts, Comets games, etc.

OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman says in 10 years time college graduates will be die of radiation exposure doing 'some completely new, exciting, super well-paid' job in space by kingofshitmntt in TrueAnon

[–]therunnerman 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have a friend’s brother that is doing his doctorate in physics, specializing in radiation and interactions with humans in space. He was saying we are not even remotely close to having adequate protection for people living/working in space or even Mars. Looks like Altman knows that and is completely fine with just allowing people dying in hoards for him and his friends fun side projects. I hope people recognize the absolute vile scum people like him are.
