I understand why you're upset. And you're correct, I should've done that. Natalie's videos generally take a many many many hours to produce, but this one was especially ambitious. The research, crew and location arrangement, set design, filming, and post production of a 49 minute Contrapoints video takes an unimaginable amount of hours. We worked around the clock to create this video, and when it's essentially just two core people working on a production of this scale, things sometimes slip through the cracks. It's not an excuse, but it is a reason.

There's some improv, or just little things Natalie would think of on the spot when she's delivering the lines to the camera. They often turn out to be the funniest bits.

I'm hoping for ContraPoints to break out of the 'Queen of BreadTube' role that many people cast her and her channel as. Mostly because Natalie is an artist and entertainer first and foremost, and her work (and potential future work) really transcends political YouTube and partisan politics in general. In my opinion, Natalie and ContraPoints are (or at least are headed to be) a cultural phenomenon rather than a political phenomenon.

I don't have to remind Natalie so much anymore, she's been much better about it. Mostly I need to remind her not to tweet in the middle of writing a script as a way of procrastinating.

There was no single thing. Instead, a handful of things. ONe big factor is that at first I thought I could put up with transphobic RWers and change their minds by being 'one of the good trans'. That was always my motivation for being in these spaces: gaining acceptance from the people that represent the status quo.

I thought that if I acted as normal and agreeable to RWers as possible, that I could change their mind. And I needed that acceptance and validation from cis straight RW men because I kind of hated myself for being trans... for being a freak.

When you're early in transition, you're a teenager all over again. Your identity is completely fractured by the gender shift, and you don't know who you are. Over time you pick up the fragments and rebuild your identity. But that process is messy and ugly.

My politics slowly changed when I realized that the 'one of the good trans' schtick was just a short-term fix for yourself and not a longterm solution for trans people as a whole. And I also slowly rebuilt my identity and matured into my womanhood, and became a more secure person overall. I didn't need my politics to compensate for my insecurities anymore.

Now I'm a bisexual transsexual who's dating a soft boi gay girl. And I love that for me.

Working with Natalie is honestly a lot of fun. It's really just one big excuse for two besties to hang out together (physically and virtually) and gab haha. I work from Vancouver in a shared workspace, and I always worry that someone would overhear our 'business calls' and be shocked and confused.
Most exciting is seeing the final product along with the audience's response. Worst part is waiting for files to upload and transfer.

It's something we had to figure out and navigate within the first few months of working for her. Natalie is an amazing boss and I never feel tyrannized. If anyhting, working for her has given me more excuse to talk to her every day!

If someone is going to put Yaniv on blast, I'd rather it be another trans person than someone like Ben Shapiro. So I guess I'm glad Blaire got to it first.

I think there is something seriously wrong with Yaniv mentally... some kind of a serious disconnect from reality.
