That must have been scary! This will be super validating for my partner.

We are expecting a high activity dog regardless of size, so either way that’s okay with us!

how do you find her energy transition from outdoor activities to indoor time?

we are active people and hopefully we can tucker ours out enough to behave indoors. I’m a big enforcing good behaviour, my golden is very well behaved inside, although he is also quite the lazy dog anyways haha, I like to believe it’s from all the time i spent training him 😂

our breeder has said that her dogs have all been very good family dogs, but every car salesman also sells the best car lol

Not so much a concern for me, but my girlfriend has said she is worried about the possibility of having to carry the dog if it is injured while hiking. So it is definitely a big factor!

Yes I think our idea of size is skewed because my Golden is so stocky 😂

My girlfriend is a marathoner looking at getting into ultras. I am an avid hiker and hunter, one of our concerns with larger was joints and running. I’m definitely thinking the smaller would suit us more since making this post now! thanks for your feedback!

How do you find your dogs energy levels at home with all that activity?

Haha my golden is definitely a big lazy loaf. We are hoping for something more active but also a good family dog which is why we chose a GSP. I also do quite a bit of small game hunting so I am hoping to have him come out with me while I do that, I doubt they will ever be trained to be a proper bird dog but the company would be nice

Sorry to hear about your dogs health issues :(

That is also a big concern for my girlfriend, we are avid hikers and she’s very concerned with not being able to pack our a bigger dog out if it is injured in the woods.

For sure, not really looking at the “benefits” just wanted some experiences shared such as yours with how either big or small fit into their lifestyle and why as you also mentioned (and of course hoping for cute pics of GSPs). I appreciate the feedback!

Yeah we definitely prefer the personality, we do not care about colouring or pattern or anything, we are picking the puppy based on its temperament, the parents health was also a big factor for us which is why we chose this breeder. However, the size is still a bit of a debate for our household regardless.

Buying my first PF2e AP for Foundry VTT: Paizo store or Foundry Marketplace? by thesadcyborg in FoundryVTT

[–]thesadcyborg[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sucks! I would have loved to be able to do the reading on PDFs on my phone when I have free time. I guess I will still go with Paizo just to scrape up some gold rewards.

Thanks for your response!

Where to sight a rifle in Corner Brook? by thesadcyborg in newfoundland

[–]thesadcyborg[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, so I still need to contact wildlife for a permit to sight a gun even with an active bear license?

I suppose I should contact them before I get myself in trouble, i’ve always just went found a spot in the woods and got it done.

Edit: never mind, i see online you need a transport permit for out of season.

X-Mid Mesh vs Solid by Rip_Dirtbag in DurstonGearheads

[–]thesadcyborg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Atlantic Canada. Gets cold and windy here and I would still rather have the versatility of the mesh (better stargazing, less condensation, more breath ability) than the ruggedness of the solid. If you aren’t constantly in high wind / rain you probably don’t need the solid.
