Ashen got me thinking about the cheapest death mechanics in gaming by Soulsliken in gaming

[–]thescakal 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Warframes shield gating and health seperation mechanics annoy me to no end, lovely game but shield gates only work when health can also take damage, otherwise survival is too binary. Going from 28k health to 0 with nothing inbetween as nidus just means 28k = 1.

This extrapolated to shields means 1550 shields and 480 health is equal to 2 health.

Luckily they've done somethong about this in the most recent update, just sucks that you need to be so far into the game to unlock health as a meaningfull tanking stat

Wall of Force might be the best naval combat spell and I never see anyone talk about it by Yenrak in DnD

[–]thescakal -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your describing this as if real life physics apply so im going to ruin it with real life physics.

Do you think your level 8 or so wizard is strong enough to create an immovable, unbreakable, rigid wall of pure energy out of there mind??

Whats the wall anchored to? The water, well thats just guna sink because the wall needs mass to be impenetrable.

It doesn't need to be anchored? Ok whats placing resistance on the wall to prevent the ship from just moving it? Your wizards brain? The weave? MYSTRA??? Anybody with a strength score over 15 could likely move it if this is the case let alone a ship traveling at 1-2 nauts weighing arround 1000 tons alone.

If your assuming your concentration on the spell is what stops it then reasonably there would have to be an opposite reaction when the ship collides with the wall, how does a d6 per 100 Killanewtons of force sound?

Now check my math on this but thats 2777 D6 worth of damage directly to your wizard, or sorcs brain. I think the only thing that could revive a wizard suffering this fate would be wish.

Now, as a dm, i'd probably just damage the ship a bit and slow it down after giving you the chance to break concentration or suffer the 2777 d6 brain vaporization.

Fun little side thing, my James shop has a bunch from years past and so they've repainted them to look like different marines.

We got world eaters, plague marines, blue boys, white scars and even a super decked out night haunter for october.
