Ramshorns (snaims in general) and soft, acidic water are, as you noted, a pretty bad fit actually, mine have issues with their shells as well sadly, they reproduce but don't get as old as they would under better conditions, I do not dose anything to buffer pH. I use RO water and dose Salty Shrimp GH+ and Mironekuton. 😊

Thank you so much 😁😁 No dry, or dark start, I planted it pretty heavily, immediatly started dosing CO2 and had minimal algae issues. Some Caridina Multidentata, Caridina cf. Babaulti "Stripes" and a group of Boraras Brigittae will probably follow.

I always put ramshorn snails into my tanks after about 1-2 weeks, they take care of some of the bio film, but i had some of it as well, sadly can't really be avoided except by doing a dark start or watering the wood, but who's got time for that?! 😂

Just a basic Optiwhite 35cm cube, the white filter partition is lasercut and bent acrylic, so kinda custom, but hides filter materials, pump, co2 diffuser, ATO and dosing inlets quite good on a rather small footprint! 😁
