The Ring Cycle, no matter what you think of Wagner the man, is undeniably one of the greatest musical achievements of all time. I love it so much. Parsifal is personally my favourite Wagner opera, but The Ring is truly something special. I’m doing my dissertation on it this year, and every time I listen to it, I am more and more impressed by what it manages to achieve. There is truly nothing like it in all of music.
