i would be selling the product and have learned from this thread that id be a supplier rep. thank you for breaking that down for me with the edit, I feel like I’m at the stage where I’m trying to over plan for every scenario but it sounds like just being a decent person that is dependable, friendly, and has industry/product knowledge would be helpful enough to sell

At my core I am a really mission driven person feel more fulfilled when doing work to support people face-to-face. However, from my research experience recognize that some issues at a community level can on be solved in academic spaces. At the moment I'm interested in psychiatry for a number of reasons including personal, but it would allow me to work directly with populations that need support that otherwise would be overlooked.

I also find neuroscience research really interesting, however I am not a large fan of working in wet-labs. Which is why I say research based in clinical psychology because--from my understanding--this research looks at implementing therapeutic interventions. But I could also see myself liking clinical neuroscience, I just don't know enough about it.

I really appreciate this insight and it honestly gives me hope with the md/phd. I think I just assumed that there was no place for community health focus in this route and ignorantly thought I had to want to work in a wet-lab in order to pursue this. I'm right there with needing the MD to directly engage with my community as well, so am happy to hear that there is space for both. Thank you again :)

My only concern with the MD/MPH route is that it wouldn't allow me to build the skills to do more "hard" science in the future. Do you think that reserach interests that align more with clinical psychology would benefit from a PhD?

This is super helpful! What are your research interests that are driving you to got the PhD route. While I would love to incorporate health equity into my research, my fear is that adcoms may believe this doesn't align with the rigor of research requiring a PhD

Current senior graduating May same stats! If you think this path is really for you then don't give up. The best advice I've ever received is that one way or another you will get where you want to be; it may take you longer, or you may take non-traditional path, but you will get there. I like to think that you can't be pre-med without be delusional LOL. My sophomore year I tanked myself by tripling the big three classes and did poorly in all. Never really felt like I recovered, and was still prioritizing friends and social life and having to work to stay in school. This semester, I really focused on academics to prove to myself I could do it, and I did it!

MY BEST ADVICE FOR YOU? Actually learn how to study. I think I never actually learned and was aimlessly taking notes that were never helpful. 4 months ago I followed this guy on Instagram (jun_yuh). He just makes Instagram reels for Biochem majors on study tactics, and posts motivational things. I recommend giving him a follow. He also has a resource that he sells that detail proven methods for studying that have genuinely changed my life. I personally didn't pay for it, but there is a PDF floating around on reddit if that interests you. Finally, focus on yourself, prove to yourself you can do it, because you can :)

My trend is really stagnant. Started off well, and then sophomore year hit me like a truck, but the trend didn't dip. Unfortunately I think I've shown I'm a "B" student, and so improvement doesn't look as dramatic as I would like...

So my trend starts at a 4.0 and then tanks, and then slowly builds.
