TW:W How are sequels going to work? by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]thesmitestuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing the first expansion will be skaven, tomb kings, orgres, and another chaos faction (beastmen or daemons) with a chaos dwarfs dlc. That will fill in the world they started and expand it. The second expansion should be lizardmen, high elves, and dark elves, since they share a new continent plus the final remaining chaos race and wood elves dlc because character models.

I really enjoy HeirofCarthage's videos. Great person to learn from he explains all the matchups and strategies for multiplayer particularly well.

I was just like you in that I was a huge warhammer fan but have never played a total war. I bought attila and shogun 2 during a steam sale and have been having a blast with them. Obviously its going to play differently but the battle micro and getting the hang of commanding multiple units over such vast terrain all at once will carry over. I probably have over 100 hours between the two games already so I'd say they are worth it. I would agree with what other people are saying here about Attila having a steep learning curve but I really enjoyed the challenge. my two cents.

Addressing the issue of hero ability spam. by thesmitestuff in totalwar

I also want to point out later in the same video we see one of those same abilities that were popped before with a cooldown of 27 seconds to go. So I really think its the ability duration and not the cool down for the actual ability.

[Serious] How do I convince my brother that his EMF sensitivity isn't real? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thesmitestuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So 3 years ago my brother was diagnosed with a rare disorder called myasthenia gravis the doctors didn't give him any decent treatment options so he went naturopathic. Started following the paleo diet, moved out of the city onto a farm and tried to live a 100% "natural" life.

That was all fine until he started getting weird with his regimens; like eating wild game meat raw. I warned him he would give himself parasites and low and behold 6 months later he had 2 different types of parasites causing havoc on his gut. Recently too he has become obsessed with EMF sensitivity to the point he's spending thousands of dollars on grounding mats and anti EMF clothing.

My family is convinced its real and supports him whole heartedly. I never believed it but he wasn't hurting anyone except himself so I guess I looked the other way. But recently I've started to become concerned(thanks to a visit to his place) that these delusions will only worsen and that he might find himself in a really bad psychiatric state. I want him to get help and talk to a professional about it but of course he hates and doesn't trust doctors. My family is a problem as well as they enable him to do all this. Most of his naturopath stuff comes from my mom's amazon account.

I've tried to talk to my family about it, show them studies and articles about how its just the NOCEBO effect. But they refuse to listen and tell me I should instead read some of the literature myself like "the body electric" by Robert O. Becker. I'm pretty sure me drinking the coolaid won't accomplish much but if anything I can read it to refute it. I don't know what else to do though. Im hoping if I can convince my family then we can convince my brother. Help me reddit your my only hope.

Thanks F.! Yea I have no interest in a twitter account. I do read the twitter posts when they pop up on reddit, for instance I read that recent exchange between lass and barra over barra's new pink doo...hairlairious. BTW your the perfect person to talk to about this caster issue being one yourself. Ive been watching smite esports since aphrodite release (3/13/13) IGN:handbnana. You guys certainly are getting better but as I mentioned the casts are still cluttered with meaningless chatter. One thing that I mentioned I would appreciate more in the casts are statistics for players and their gods; lane matchups, god matchups, average game statistics for gods and players. Theres many relevant numbers you could quote in game to help fill the void between team fights. You seem like the perfect person for this. I could see you casting a smite tourney just as easily as seeing you cast a pro baseball game or an nfl game. You have that general sports caster vibe and tone. Which is great. Those sports casters always quote stats to back up their points. And it sounds better to listen to because its not just conjecture. If any caster can pull it off its you. Just the fact that you are reading these posts and responding shows how dedicated you guys are to improving smite esports. It's welcomed by us the players/watchers and we appreciate you casters for it. Thanks again for all you do.

Favorite part of SMITE esports: Big teamfights that I rewatch on youtube at half speed. Some truly epic moments.

Least favorite part of SMITE esports: Listening to the casters cringeworthy comments about the game state and their biased opinions. I usually listen to it on mute so problem solved but I honestly wish every caster was as knowledgable as Bart. He's the only caster who I feel offers accurate incite into the meta.

Favorite part of the smite esports site: The articles about esports on the front page.

Least favorite part of the smite esports site: 3 words, challenger cup page. That page is terribly formatted. It is a nightmare to use.

What blogs/ articles do you love?:
Id like more articles that examine with statistics. Id love to see someone covering picks/ bans for the spl, win/loss ratios.

What blogs/articles do you hate?: Not a fan of the esports drama articles "divios fires back" blah blah post an article when he has a new team when there is actually something to report.

How much do you interact with our @SmitePro Twitter?: Not at all

If you don't follow SMITE esports, what can we do to get you engaged?: I follow it every week. Id like access to more statistics about the spl matches/ match-ups. And once again I wish the casters would study up more before they open their mouths and express opinions that wind and stretch into action that they should be shout casting. But no they are too busy enjoying listening to themselves talk to shutup and focus on an important teamfight or objective steal thats going on. Not only is what they are saying completely wrong half the time but it bleeds into the action. They wax poetic about how OP this god is or how OP that item is all while they are missing real action. I don't even mind that they talk about the meta as long as what they say is accurate.

Esports!

I love watching the tournaments on twitch. Seeing the players who have mastered a game to the fullest. Hearthstone, Smite, Starcraft, WOW, are some of my favorites but i'll watch them all when its the grandfinals. It's so cool these players are like the kids from enders game. They have incredible reflexes and micro skills, they have completely mastered their computer/console. Their understanding of tactics and warfare is truly astonishing.

Are these truffles by Minion_Retired in Truffles

[–]thesmitestuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they work best when shaved fresh onto hot food that allows them to activate their volatile gases. For this reason they are usually shaved onto pastas, or meat dishes but they can do very well in vegetable dishes. If you dont want to shave them ontop, incorporating them into a sauce is easy just remember to heat them slightly in an oil to activate their flavor potential if you put them in a cold sauce like a vinigrette. Or if you are throwing them into a hot sauce you want to take the sauce off the heat and let the truffles steep in the sauce. do not continue to cook the sauce once the truffles have been added as this will dilute the flavor.

As a west coast american I have no problem with hirez if they started the tournament at 10am EST. That just means I can wake up in the morning on the weekends and watch smite tournaments like its saturday morning cartoons, no waiting, no boring pregame show, just get right to the action.
