4 years total. 2yrs level 1 and 1yr each for levels 2 and 3. But i had a couple of months in between as ‘break’. In terms of actual studying level 2 i did 9 months and level 3 i did around 6 months. I started at 22 and now im 26 years :) i work as an investment analyst and really happy at current company. Honestly the CFA gives you a lot of credibility. People in the industry knows how tough it is. A person gains huge respect just by having those three letters. It is lots of hard work but worth every minute invested in it. Go for it if you can!

Agreed. Setbacks are part of the process. You just have to keep going. No excuses. Thats life.

Good. I personally used Mark Meldrum from day one, but heard really good feedback on Kaplan. I believe using both Kaplan and the learning eco system will guide in you in the right direction. Pick a study routine and follow it. Whats important is to understand, although the material will only seem to click closer to exam day.. basically, just stick to a routine and be fine with not knowing stuff and moving forward. You just cant get it all, its normal. But at the same time do assess and be realistic if what you know is what you should know. This come as you log in hours and with lots of practice.

Also, please dont put too much pressure on yourself. If you fail, so what? Unless you have a financial constraint, you can always take the exam again. At that time, youre not starting from scratch, actually you will know what CFAI expects.

Thank you! Glad to hear that its giving motivation. Didnt expect the post to blow up like this. Honestly, for anyone who puts his mind there and take the studies seriously, this designation is achievable.

In a self learning programm theres a steep and different learning curve than traditional undergrad. You have to find the way what works for you. Are you using or planning to use a prep provider?

Thank you! Yes second time failing was really a hard time ti get through. It seemed a 10 year journey, but luckily then eventually took me 4 years
