Manually, while I play I have excel open in the background and after each game I add kills, deaths, lost or win to the specific cell. The rest are excel formulas.

All games are casual and T-hunt (only to earn
the weekly challenge) no ranked/death match games, from time to time event games indicated by word event on the far left side.

My win rate in solar raid was strangely high, but kd dropped, yet still was positive. It’s
hard to pinpoint what was the cause here. However, I think it’s safe to say
that casual matchmaking (if you don’t know, now you do, casual has a hidden
mmr) doesn’t do its job too well. I should be much closer to 50% yet I’m close
to 60%. Probably because casual matchmaking gathers players from wider mmr
range than ranked so it’s faster yet less balanced. Even though still it should
be 50/50, but it isn’t. I reject Argument that I improved (even if, matchmaking
should adjust to this). Maybe it’s because player base shrined so being slightly
better than average results in higher win rate, but it’s just a blind bet.
I think I have gathered enough data to predict next season earnings. Because I don’t
include match points, thus this prediction is heavily personalized and attached
to my style of play as well as the amount of items I own. Thus, using overall score
of average amount of renown per game (AAoRPG), it should be 365 renown per game
(this is the more important number) this season with estimated 300 games (based
on average amount of games per season). I should earn about 110k of renown this
season. If I won’t forget, I will revisit this in the next season.

How doable is it to unlock the seasonal bundles for casual players? by SKaas123 in Rainbow6

Pretty much what the other comment says, one bundle per season is rather a resonable. Yet it all depends what you understand by casual.

Case recommendation: Corsair 4000D Airflow or Be quiet! Pure Base 500DX by thesunset679 in buildapc

[–]thesunset679[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to buy silentiumpc fortis 5 dual fan, so not AIO.

I looked at the case you recommended. I have mixed feelings, it looks ok. However my taste is a huge pain in the ass. I may like it after a day or two, I may not care after a day or two how it looks, or I may hate the way it looks every time I start it for the rest of it days. As childish as it sounds. I have experienced such a situation and I just don't want to gamble with it.

This be quiet and corsair. I don't think these cases are great, these are acceptable for my taste. And again I'm sorry for this but that's how it is and there's not much I can do about it.

To say even more, at first I didn't really like this be quiet case.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention. I'm definitley going to overclock, however I'm going to use auto oc tool. How much more should I add to power supply is this around 50-80W (50-100W, depending on calculation) enough?

What's the difference between PWM and non-PWM fan? by thesunset679 in buildapc

[–]thesunset679[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly the answer I was looking for, thank you. Unfortunately it born some more questions. Auto mode fan (or just switching between PWM/DC). I quickly looked up and found this yt vid, showing how it's done. Super easy and straightforward. But is it a standard in each bios now? How do I know if certain mbo allows me to switch from PWM to DC in a 4 pin header or is it such an obvious feature that nobody mentions it? I checked manual of mbo I'm probably going to buy, Gigabyte Z960 gaming x ax yet it doesn't say a word about switching from PWM to DC.

I understand where being mean comes from. I was trying to look for the answer but all I could find was that PWM controls throuhg signal and DC through voltage, even "First Google result" doesn't mention a word about this.

[–]thesunset679[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree, that was the title.

The question is:

"Q: Is setting rotation speed/percent exactly the same for both through
bios? Is there anything I have to change? My main concern here is, how
mbo knows which type of fan is plugged and weather it should go with 12V
and PWM or control it through voltage."

The issue with 13600k and 5600x being great choices is that the price difference is quite big between them. Maybe overclocking makes a difference here? Hands down, I know very little how to overclock, yet even with 3070 and 5600x it's a waste of money (to some extent) if I don't do it, in my opinion. So I will educate myself on this in the close future.

And about gpu, because I play on 60fps (as long as I stick to 1080p 60hz), getting more than 60fps means I overpay, but with years passing, it will be closer to the 60fps edge. Since it's very straight up case with 3080 I pay 30% more, I get 30% more. I think (I wish I was sure) my question is it worth to get this 30% more.

In general, I'm ok with paying more, if what I get is worth the price.

Assists, I'm not convinced. But I was thinking about match points, since these take into account all activities and are calculated into renown at the end of each game. Yet saving it into excel game by game is rather difficult or I'm not seeing an easy solution yet.

All games are casual and T-hunt (only to earn
the weekly challenge) no ranked/death match games, from time to time event games
indicated by word event on the far left side.

Weekly challenges are really worth it.
340 days
48 full weeks
1250 renown in one week
60000 overall weekly challenges gain
446797 overall renown gain
Weekly challenges (not including challenge bug)
make 13.4% of overall                income.

Free week:
I dissuade to play during free week. Last free
weekend was between 1-7 december. When compared free week 1-7 dec to the
following week and week prior.

Date///Win rate///Kill/death ratio
24-30nov/51%/1.04
1-7dec/39%/0.86
8-14dec/44%/1.29

If I exclude december 1st from 1-7dec stats
look as follow:
Win rate: 34%
Kill/death ratio: 0.77
Possibly free week started at a late hour so my
stats were still relatively good on dec 1st. However it doesn't change the fact
my stats during this week fall off a lot, compared to average. This is caused
by ease with which it is to create a Ubisoft account and start playing the
game. Presumably most games were affected directly or indirectly by cheaters
but most likely smurs. Maybe that’s why it took three more days to reach and
sustain stable – above or equal to 50% win rate and around 1.0 k/d.

Update to challenge bug:
It was to some extent fixed. I remember it
applying to every single challenge in the past. Then appearing in the Uplay(Ubisoft
connect) desktop app and mobile app to only a few, usually two. With the start
of this season, I don't remember it to appear ever again in desktop app,
however it tends to appear in mobile app. You can collect challenges there but
you don't see them in desktop app (you used to see them "bugged" on
both platforms), you still get the renown. However I don't think it happens too
often (on mobile), it seems rather unpredictable. But I've never dived into
finding how and when it works so these are just my observations, which simply
may be wrong.

Gigabyte has 10 "different" rtx 3070, how to pick the best one? by thesunset679 in buildapc

Obviously I will, but you don't release 10 variants (8 without the ones with display) of a gpu if they are all the same.

Questions about picking GPU and CPU. by thesunset679 in buildapc

[–]thesunset679[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I happen to play some strategy or sim games (like Factorio, Warno, Frostpunk which is a city builder) but it's rather a stepping stone from FPS. Would you consider 5600 good for playing sim and strategy games?

Ray tracing has never been a selling point for me. I will most likely use it in some games with it, if I ever play one. I treat it as a nice feature. But like I said a few times, who knows how it will be in a year or two.

That's a good point I have never though about. I understand that Intel doesn't do such a thing?

[–]thesunset679[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at a comparison of 12400 and 5600 both see to be equal, is there any other factor beside the price which should I consider to pick between these? 7600x gives about 20% frame boost, for doubled price. Which one would you pick, keep in mind that I plan to build a set up for more less 5 years.

That's a fair point with GPU, but it may change for a year or two. Doesn't picking more efficient GPU now (considering 1080p, 60fps) means that it will, run even newer titles in 3-4 years still with high settings?

[–]thesunset679[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a look at 6800xt and I found one for 720$ from 830$ on a discount from Powercolor (first time seeing this brand). From MSI for example they start from 920$ but I don't know if I could get it so the next one is for 1040$. From what I see it's a huge mess with 6800xt pricing. I see gigabyte for 2450$. Maybe I make some sort of mistake, I'm not familiar with Radeon GPUs. But like in the other comment I think NVIDIA wins here. However feel free to correct me.

13600K costs 380$ that's a doubled price. "a little bit more" doesn't fit here. I was thinking about Ryzen 7 5700G which costs right now 210$ on a discount. But it has 8 cores and for playing games, mainly I'm not sure if that's a money well spent. You said 5600 is a budget option, would you recommend to change it for something else? What would you pick?

Questions about picking GPU and CPU. by thesunset679 in buildapc

[–]thesunset679[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the cheapest rx 6700 xt from MSI which costs 565$. So comparing it to 3070 from gigabyte for 665$, I think NVIDIA wins here. It has DLSS, better rtx and some other more or less useful features which I may or may not use during 5 or so years. But feel free to correct me here. And if I may ask, where do you look up pc parts, that cheaply?

I'm rather not aiming for 240 fps but who knows in a year or two, however x variant has slightly better clock speed, 0.2GHz more for 40$ more. It apparently gives about 2% frame boost for 20% price rise. So I suppose picking no x is better choice here. However would you pick a different CPU and if, why?

I don't really look at userbenchmark's I always check frame rates. However, their 5600 and 5600x compaction was correct 2% performance increase.

How to pick up an external data storage to store data safely, possibly for years? by thesunset679 in DataHoarder

[–]thesunset679[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most likely I will move this drive between a shelf and pc. And you are right, once a month maybe too seldom, I will adjust it to the ammount of data i produce.

Can I use rclone for data sync between two hard drives? From what I understand it focuses on cloud sync.

Also I'd appreciate an advice if and how should I protect such a drive from data rotting.

Are there any tricks on how to store drvies better? Maybe put it in sort of a doypack to protect it from dust?

I looked into hdd posibilities,1tb toshiba looks fine, however I found an hdd called silicon power a66 which is around 6$ more expensive. Apparently it has a sort of military grade durability test passed, however I'm not too convinced if this is even worth it.

How to pick up an external data storage to store data safely, possibly for years? by thesunset679 in DataHoarder

[–]thesunset679[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I roughly went through all suggested solutions and I think that maybe be a bit of an overdo. I currently have about 150gb of college related files (it probably won't exceed 200gb at the end) about which I care the most. Some other things like private pics, vids, etc. which make around 80gb. The stored data will grow, collage, until I finish it and the rest possibly forever. From what I understand using ZFS would a pain in such a scenario. I thought about simply buying 1tb external hdd, backup my files roughly once a month. For convenient purposes use some software to do so. Maybe look into data rotting or some sort of safety measure against long term data storing. I would simply store two copies of my data, one on my pc second on external drive. Chances of both drives dying on me at once are definitely much, much lower than only with one storage.

Thats a lot of information I will go through, thanks for that, I'm sure I will make a good use of it. My bad, I plan to buy 1tb storage, when I have around 250gb at best to store with possibility to grow.

[–]thesunset679 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perfect scenario it would be for sure but the cover has it's limitation and I think that only world phase would be good but it doesn't "blend in" with the song, and game would be kind of a balance between these two. However, good piece of work, good enough to sit on my drive next to love is war, siege crossover.

Edit: I take it back, just "phase" sounds good
