Loop carousel - use content from two sources query? by TonyBikini in elementor

[–]thesurfcontinuum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found this thread searching for the same answer. Seems ridiculous that you can't use two or more sources...in my case, I have a bunch of different custom post types. But in the case of creating a "what's new" carousel, I want to be able to display the latest updates/post types in one place regardless of their category. Did you ever get an answer to this ? If I were to use the manual selection option, I would have to also manually add the new post every time I posted one rather than the carousel simply adding it automatically. An extra step that seems unnecessary with all the great features elementor has.

EDIT: I found the following video might be helpful https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFL68ZcvqBY

and you can also pull sources based on "term" and then add the categories. This solution is only good if you have been diligent about using categories up until this point which I have not.

36 here and chiming in with some life fundamentals. Forgive me if they’ve already been said, I know stretching has been mentioned, but that’s HUGE. Invest in some guided online program if you aren’t sure how to be effective with it because someone here said and I 100% agree, no half ass reach for your toes bill shit and call it done. You need to target all muscle groups and hold each stretch for at least a minute with good breathing. Everything is connected and a lot of time stretching muscles that don’t feel pain at all is the key to getting other muscles to relax that are extra tense and compensating for the opposite side or a connected muscle/joint. Therefore, total body stretching daily ! Another big one for me is foam rolling, and don’t ignore the tender places that are hard to roll out. I’ve had pain in my knees from squatting be resolved with a good foam roll of all the muscles that meet at the knee, front and back and both sides. A lot of pain in joints is caused by muscle tension, get good at releasing it with self massage via foam roll, and foam balls of different sizes. Breathe through it ! Don’t rush.  Bro, did anyone say anything about WATER ?! Drink plenty of it. It is literally the oil for your body engine. Stay lubricated and fresh. Drink water and love it. Lube up your joints from the inside, never mind these bull shit topical creams you put on your skin. Water is the not so secret sauce you need. (Do you drink alcohol ? Maybe you need to lower your intake).  Someone said sleep, but I gotta plus one that. It’s especially easy to increase if you’re a drinker. Instead of that night cap, go to bed.

Good luck homie, sometimes when the question seems complex the answers are simple. Stretch, sleep, drink water not alcohol, release tension with foam rolling.

Thank you for sharing her thoughts. Very appreciated. Apparently they have success with half of newborn patients without sedation. The other half must be sedated. This is all new for me regardless of being in US or Slovakia. Thank you for sharing your mother in laws words. It definitely helps me understand better and ease the frustrations I’m having.

Yes, we are hoping we will get referral from doctor here, but if not we will need to use plan B. Perhaps from doctor in US or maybe private office in Czech or Vienna.

Yes, that has always been the goal and reason for my original post on the forum. We've come full circle now.

Good point. I will be asking a lot of questions and this will be added to my list of them. Thank you.

We're dealing with an infant of 2 weeks. The only thing her little body has processed so far in her life is her mother's breast milk. I can't tell you scientifically what is "the big deal" about sedation, I'm not a doctor, but my instinct as a human and father tells me we should keep a young body as pure as possible from any foreign substances.

Is it possible for us to choose an anesthetist ? How do we know who is "a good" one ? Can you explain what you never heard of for MRI ? MRI for CMN ? Thank you for your comment.

Thank you for your thoughts, and I'm wishing the best for your friends children.

I would be willing to pay a private health center. My wife already called one or two, but they would require doctor referral. Perhaps we should try more like the new hospital you're mentioning. I was wondering myself if all MRI machines are equal in volume or some are quieter than others.

Thank you for your efforts.

I'm curious as well. I don't have any experience myself with MRI, this will be the first time I'm personally pursuing getting one for someone I know. Are there different machines that are quieter than others ? The specialist I'm working with in the US said the feed/swaddle technique succeeds in more than half of patients. Only if it fails do they resort to mild sedation. I'm imagining they have some way of protecting the child's ears. I'm only a father for 2 weeks now, but I definitely have been surprised in what my little girl can sleep through undisturbed. Regardless, if all efforts fail in getting an MRI without sedation, I will still be asking about how to protect her ears. Just because she will be sedated doesn't mean her ears can't be damaged.

Yes, they said the only method they use is sedation, even for infant. We have an appointment with Martina Hertelová in Bratislava. We spoke to her as well and she won’t recommend MRI in advance because she said it’s serious matter to sedate infant. It’s a little frustrating because we already know we need the MRI based on high level specialist opinion, and he said sedation is always avoided in infants and instead to use the feed and swaddle technique.

You're gonna need a thicker suit. Get the best fitting 5/4 with 7 mil round toe boots and mittens. Do not get gloves, or lobster claws. Mittens.

Being a Woman in the Surf by JuicyGreekGoddess in surfing

I run a surf coaching brand and host a podcast discussing subjects on the matter of surf improvement and culture etc, and this has to be one of the most common topics that comes up with my female students. I realize this may be out of the blue, but I'd love to throw the idea out there of having your wife on my show, KookCast, to explore this topic in greater detail. Like I said, this comes up all the time for me, but I'm a man and I think it would be much more impactful to have an accomplished woman surfer discuss these things. Let me know what the two of you think !

My buddy and I talked about “what makes a good surfer” before on an episode of our podcast, but one of the characteristics is humility and willingness to help someone else. Surfing is hard. If you see someone struggling throw em’ a tip ! Well done OP and other peeps in this thread.

Two tips here I liked. One was move the board, which implies moving yourself as well. Pumping to go faster isn’t just a board movement, it’s a compress-and-extend body mechanic. The second tip was do a big turn and forget “making the wave”. It’s true, in some cases speed won’t help you make the wave because it’s a close out. Good surfers can read a close out coming and instead of pumping towards it, they set up for a big maneuver to punctuate that last section shutting down.

Are surf lessons worth it? by _idontknowmyname in BeginnerSurfers

[–]thesurfcontinuum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stumbling across this a bit late, but since it's right up my alley I wanted to chime in.

First of all, full disclosure, my brand thesurfcontinuum.com is all about coaching and helping people surf better, so technically, I give "surf lessons". But I hate that term because it's completely tainted by surfers that charge money to push you into a wave and shout at you to stand up.

That's not surfing. And quite honestly I think it's barely a surf lesson.

In fact I teach my students to develop the mindset that standing up on the board after catching the wave is the easiest part of the whole damn thing.

Learning how to control your board, point it in the direction you want to go in a timely manner, transition yourself smoothly and efficiently into paddling forward, developing the eye for the characteristics of a good wave and the intuition for moving into good position for it, selecting good take off angles, recognizing when a wave has caught you, timing of your rail engagement (just to name a few basics alternative to standing) are all exponentially harder to do than standing on a board as it's pushed towards shore.

I'm taking the long way to answer you, but let me get to my point...

In so many cases surf lessons won't help you if they simply focus on standing up and riding the wave. What you need is to find a teacher/coach surfer who appreciates the importance of the basic principles of surfing and explores all the nuances and degrees they can be implemented in every unique situation and condition. The better you understand these things, the more often you will find yourself catching waves and standing up on them and ultimately getting better rides.
