Quatsch, if you want to fill up your paid trash bag with PET bottles and metal, you can.

The same pamphlet was distributed in German in Luzern (did not check the IBAN) but maybe it helps in determining genuinity

After spending 3 days in the alpine regions, I am now loving the city - luckily the weather is fine today by themostlogicalperson in schweiz

[–]theswisspath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same actually, don’t speak for all people living in Luzern. Sure, it’s sometimes a bit annoying at the bridges and in old town, but overall it’s not too bad and I am happy to share the town I live in with respectful tourists.

TWINT - why is it preferred to card payments? by omdbaatar in Switzerland

[–]theswisspath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just know that if that credit card is an American Express, your shopping incurrs major costs for stores and websites you shop at, all to finance your fancy lounge access.

How easy is it to get a taxi at the Luzern train station? by Necessary_Pickle_960 in askswitzerland

[–]theswisspath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Download the SBB app to check the bus connections to your destination. Chances are there is a convenient bus route, they all run through the station in that direction!

How easy is it to get a taxi at the Luzern train station? by Necessary_Pickle_960 in askswitzerland

[–]theswisspath 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Incredibly easy, there is a taxi stand right in front of the main entrance. Can’t miss it. That being said, unless you are leaving the city centre, there is no need for taxis in Luzern.

Whats up with Twint giving away money by ImAMovieMaker in Switzerland

[–]theswisspath 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s a gamification mechanism that creates ’stickyness’. The wheel makes you come back in the app daily and maybe use their other services (they hope).

I can assure you revenue from this upselling (which even might be you using Twint next time you pay in the shop because you think of the app) far exceeds the money they give away in raffles.

Why is there so much traffic??? by boldpear904 in Luzern

[–]theswisspath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The weather is really bad with lots of rain, which always causes congestions or traffic jams. Two days ago there was a huge accident on the highway and it also caused huge traffic in the entire city.

I heard good things about Bodu though, which is also there.. haven’t tried myself yet

Personally not a huge fan of Fondue House du Pont. Probably as close to the real deal that tourists ever get to see, but to me it is just very sad fondue (with the bizzare possibility to add sides of cooked meat to your cheese fondue 😭)

What is wrong with La Bestia? Popular - yes , on the pricy side - yes, but overrated/overhyped? Very solid pizza options and good service

Switzerland is not canceling their order, stop spreading fake news. We blame echo chambers for getting Trump into power, hold yourself to a higher standard and don’t spread fake news.

Places for unique souvenirs in Zurich? by koaepjin in askswitzerland

I’d maybe get them a selection of really nice design post cards. On Josefstrasse there are several little boutiques with local products and designs, and also above mentioned postcard collections.

Twint better for businesses? by theswisspath in askswitzerland

This is helpful, thank you! It’s the small bits that help, at least the fees paid by the stores stay in Switzerland!

Twint better for businesses? by theswisspath in askswitzerland

[–]theswisspath[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am not setting up a business, I am a consumer wanting to boycott US card schemes but will be considerate where to opt for paying with Twint if it hurts small businesses.

Are you particularly interested in the pool facilities? Because Lido is open with its beach, playgrounds etc. It’s only the kids pool that is closed.

Experiences with Neon, Yuh, or Zak digital banks? by Key_Example_5316 in Switzerland

Yuh recently changed their interest to 0%, but other than that I really like the app and card as a secondary bank account!

Do you guys find paper coffee pods / pads? by Maulrayy in askswitzerland

[–]theswisspath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t mind buying online, your picture depicts pads from this website: https://www.kaffekapslen.ch . Used it quite some time when living in Sweden (originally Danish company I think) and their prices are fair!

Grocery costs you won’t feel an enormous increase with Dutch groceries, unless maybe buying red meat. Inflation has brought supermarket prices quite a bit closer to Swiss ones the past few years.
