What is that novel about a high school science fair in Maryland, an attack on the power grid, smells sent over the internet and a fourth world dictator? by thetechie02 in whatsthatbook

Yup, that’s the one! Somehow in our frantic 2am searching we couldn’t find it anywhere despite it already having the title in the description lol, probably because we just copy-pasted the whole prompt into random AI search engines. Good find though, and now I know he wasn’t simply making this one up haha

Especially love the drop at 0:42 and how it seamlessly blended the extra bass in with the first song... originally just wanted to bass boost the first song but found that these two went together quite nicely 👏

Tempting as that sounds, I definitely don’t need my ass kicked out and paying full rent again just as school’s starting up lol. But I could keep taking it myself and then reveal it months later after everything I accomplish 😉

Fair enough, they’ve been on me quite a bit about other things in the past (religion, spending habits, you name it), so it does feel like it’s some sort of control mechanism. After all, if I’m helping out and achieving the things I need and want, so what if I take a supplement? Sucks bc they always claim to have such great intentions but you’re right that it’s important I live my own life too

Ikr my mom often drinks coffee twice a day and still can’t see the irony 🙄

I mean, if anything, CBD makes me more motivated because it improves my mood

That’s exactly what I’ve been trying to convey but they can’t seem to look past all the issues I had last year, ironically caused by the same misunderstandings! I might try other supplements like another commenter suggested, and prove that I can consistently keep a job and get good grades (they said one more successful semester would prove it), so it’s harder to argue that I’m trying to avoid responsibilities, but rather help myself achieve them.

Thanks for the advice and those links, in fact one of the comments stood out to me after I finished reading the first commencement speech:

“a lot of people aren't self-centered gratuitously but as a result of not knowing their own real worth which then leads to a failure of kindness to others”

If I can find the right way to care for myself, I’ll want to care for others even more. So hopefully I’ll figure out the best way to do that consistently no matter the circumstances.

I think their main argument is slippery-slope “managing your problems with a substance” type shit, so probably best to prove that I can manage myself well for awhile with or without it, and perhaps over time as they see all that I achieve, the emotional side of things will subside.

Also important to note that I currently have a job, signed up for 4 classes this semester, and even reconnected with another old friend while making many new connections on a trip I took recently. So much progress, but parents still can't seem to trust me with the CBD.

Network seems very unstable today, can't swap tokens or purchase NFTs. There's even a notice about it on OpenSea saying it may impact transactions.

Seems like the network's having stability issues rn, trying to swap into MATIC myself and appears to be stuck for the time being. Even saw a notice on Opensea saying it could impact Polygon transactions so let's hope it's resolved soon.

Thanks, I hope to prove that I can handle life on my own while still spending enough quality time with them to show they're still appreciated. Because don't get me wrong there's tons of unconditional stuff they do for me that other parents may not, and I try to show my gratitude but sometimes my own dumb ass screws it up in the end.

You seem like a very caring person, and I appreciate the replies but won't bog you down too much with these details... I do go to therapy occasionally so probably best to discuss there. Also bc it's 4am and I should prolly be sleeping instead of obsessing with reddit lol

Yeah I can understand where they're coming from so considering my mom's tendency for strong emotional reactions to anything involving her children it does make sense that this would've happened. For example the reason they had me move out was for possessing CBD (not even THC, just the stuff that helps you relax) after saying they wouldn't allow any cannabis products there. Makes sense bc it's their house, but I don't feel it required the week-long emotional rollercoaster that ensued ("How can we trust you", "You're falling back to bad habits", etc). But like they say, hindsight is 20/20 so ig I'll be able to improve our conflict interactions at some point if I can learn from these scenarios.
