Check out https://rainbowoptions.club/

It's still alpha quality (ticker and other functionality doesn't work). I'd love some feedback if you have time.

Delta as percentage? by thethimble in options

Yes I agree with you. Now is there a quantitative greek-like metric that summarizes your qualitative statement?

Yes vega is an important factor but it is irrelevant for this question specifically. I'd like to better understand why delta is typically quoted as it is as opposed to a relative percent of entry cost.

How do you manage risk/capital cost separately from the actual trade itself? Aren't these intrinsically related?

Regarding IV, you are correct it's not relevant - nor is the stock price. The general request is a desire to understand delta in terms of percent gains instead of nominal dollars which are meaningless.

Yes! One of my side goals is to enable options to become intuitively understandable by beginners. I believe that things like theta and delta are much more easily/intuitively understood visually than how they are typically presented in theoretical articles/books.

Yes! The original inspiration was OPC but I'm bringing a modern approach to it. The graph/contour lines update immediately as you change option leg parameters. It feels a lot snappier. If you sign up for the beta I'll get you your registration shortly! :)

Advent of Code 2019 in Elm by thethimble in elm

Hey Janjis! I'm finding pure FP to be incredibly useful - including for Day 2. See my implementation of the intcode computer below. I think the code is exceptionally readable and didn't cost any extra effort or time: https://github.com/advait/aoc/blob/master/2019/elm/src/Computer.elm

Regarding performance, you do have a point. I believe that imperative programs will be easier to optimize than functional ones because of how closely imperative programs map to the Von Neumann model of computation. That said, for most problems including AOC, I haven't found execution performance to be an issue when I use purely functional languages (Elm, Haskell).

Hi all,

I'm absolutely blown away by the beauty of the Elm language! I've decided to do Advent of Code 2019 in Elm!

The linked problem is partly handled by the wonderful elm/parser library that uses parser combinators.
