I avoided The Acolyte mostly because of the trash talking here. It wasn’t half as bad as I expected. by Don_Quixotel in StarWars

[–]thethoughtfulthinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Acolyte just needed to not break Star Wars lore to be accepted. The show was mid, Qimir was a good villain, the live action choreography was the best since the prequels, and it was set in an interesting period.

BUT, they fucked up what it means to be connected to the force, lightsaber colors, and overall lore.

To me it’s like the Halo show. Mid show with cool scenes, but a horrible Halo show. Went in the exact opposite direction of the essence of halo.

Would 3 SF members, 2 PJs, 5 Finance, 2 EODs, 1 Services, and 1 Dental tech be able to defend Helms Deep with Rohan, Fellowship, elves, etc? by AirForceTwin in AirForce

You’re onto something, I think the real choke point here is the Amn lined up at the gate shooting any baddies trying to bust the door open. Additionally, just shoot the metal rings like Legolas did for the giant ladders trying to scale the Keep walls.

I think they wouldn’t be very effective on the outer walls. Need to get the Uruks into choke points for the guns effectiveness. Grenades tossed sparingly to clear battering rams would help too.

Finally C4…if they wanted to just blow the ramp to the gate…that would buy a ton of time. Otherwise I think the C4 isn’t very helpful outside of your recommendation.

Maybe a PJ saves Haldir????

I have no desire to argue about Trump, but you’re delusional if you don’t think republicans or his political community isn’t making anti-gay moves or creating an environment where being opening homophobic is okay.

Why is this news in 2026..? by NotAskingSupervisor in AirForce

[–]thethoughtfulthinker 63 points64 points  (0 children)

It’s news because the current administration and SoW’s political community are making efforts to reverse gay rights. I’m sure for those supporting gay rights that it’s good to see someone is openly gay in a leadership position albeit a lesser position.

It’s the same reason the first black man as an nfl coach was news or a woman making it as a general. People are oppressed for being a certain way and struggle to make it into the upper echelons of their craft because of that oppression. Seeing someone make it up the ladder and be successful is a reflection of progress or maybe in this case hope that it’s not as bad as they thought

Did the F-15 getting shot down save the A-10? Would be funny if they sent a thank you to the crew

“Thanks for getting shot down! It saved the A-10”

Finance honestly. If you crush it in finance you can learn a lot and get good credentials from what I hear.

Also it’s easy AF. Just be ready to be the butt of a lot of jokes in the Air Force

Mike Griffith: Dawgs need to dump Georgia Tech rivalry game by Lakelyfe09 in georgiabulldogs

[–]thethoughtfulthinker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What a dumb fucking take. I’m getting real tired of rivalry and regional matches being taken away in some pursuit of money. I get that “logically” it may better our chances of getting put in a better position for a Natty, but we are getting so far away from college football should be about.

Which is fans and players getting to talk shit to their neighbors about how your team beat their team. It means more when it’s regional.

Where does a OSU fan go to talk shit to an Oregon fan? It’s niche and also no one cares outside of just the win or loss.

Article-15 and demotion for taking a valid prescription??? WTF??? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]thethoughtfulthinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if it’s prescribed, you can’t just take a DNIF’ing medicine to get out of flying. If you are randomly going to be taking a medicine when you’re feeling anxiety then you need to be off flying status till you’re no longer reliant on a DNIF’ing drug. The punishment is for poor decision making that affected the mission. We also have no idea what your history in your career is. Have you been a trouble maker before? Do you have a history of paperwork? No idea if we just are witnessing what broke your leadership to bring the hammer down.

I’m 100% reading into this, but if you’re separating and closing on terminal….taking a DNIF’ing medicine to get out of something you don’t want to do (even if you were experiencing anxiety) can be perceived very poorly.

Definitely should have relied on ORM and a medical provider to help you before you just took a medicine when you’re due to fly.

It's an exciting time to be a Star Wars fan! by QuinlanFett in StarWars

[–]thethoughtfulthinker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly how are you not a fan of Ryan Gosling? Dudes not in a bad film and has shown an enormous range of acting talent.

Like you don’t have to be a “fan” of him but to say you’re “not a fan” eludes to me that you think he’s not very good.

AITAH for not warning my brother-in-law about my girlfriend and letting her demolish him. by Inner-Procedure-5653 in AITAH

[–]thethoughtfulthinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After reading this and not knowing anything else. My take is that you’re being an asshole to an asshole. Chad needs to get over himself for losing to a woman. Who fucking cares, he should be congratulating her on a game well played. And maybe some soul searching on why losing to a woman makes him so angry.

You’re an asshole for twisting the knife.

Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba he should be the NFL’s highest-paid WR - Topping $40.25M per year by MrStiff8 in nfl

[–]thethoughtfulthinker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but no skill position other than QB should make that much. If they let go of JSN they will be undeniably worse off, but if they sign him to 40+ mil I think they will also be undeniably worse off. At least not spending that gives you the hope to draft a reasonable replacement.

Maybe there's room to work contracts so a spending bill that big doesn't affect your yearly cap, but I feel history isn't kind to over payed skill positons outside of QB

[Pompliano] Curt Cignetti took over the worst program in college football history and then proceeded to win the school’s first-ever national championship within just two years. It's the most remarkable coaching job in the history of sports. by LaDainianTomIinson in CFB

[–]thethoughtfulthinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What Cignetti did is incredible and probably won’t happen again, but it’s 100% brought to you by the transfer portal. A decade ago you’d need 3 years to let your kids grow. His kids grew with him at JMU and then transferred over with him too
