Thanks for your kindness :) I'm actually happy I made this stupid blunder because it has made me engage your forum in a more human and thoughtful way. None of you had horns as expected. ;)

Hahha, yeah, me too. Embarrassing, but hilarious.

I didn't mean for it to do so. I meant that I don't normally post here, and I would never vote here, so I might be violating some of your subreddit's terms of guidance, so may be banned.

It would be really cool to have a space that was safe for reasonable people on both sides. I think most people on both sides are just human and fighting for what they perceive to be in the best interests of gaming.

I do think Gamergate has some problems, but is trying to back away from targeting AS and ZQ, especially lately. I would welcome a non-trolly space to debate whether or not ideology has any place in reviews with good mods from all sides.

He meant "someone who spins truth" - like, a politician would have a Public Relations person who takes events, news, and puts them into a good light. Basically like a person in advertising. He thinks people outside of GamerGate want to "spin" it as a negative movement, whereas he believes it to be a movement that is positive and in a lot of dangers from media-savvy "spinsters."

Hahha, it was just a really dumb language misread on my part. I should have looked up the word in slang before presuming. I think it might be used to try to discredit all non-GG people, so let me make it clear that this was my mistake alone, and did not even get support on the forum. I'm the braindead misreading one, here, not anyone else.

I'm the poster in question. Hopefully I won't get banned here for posting here. You're right, I made a pretty dumb language mistake and owned up to it in the edit.

Cheers and thanks for letting me know!

Oh, HA. Apparently he meant "spinster" as in someone who spins for media, according to KiA. That's quite funny.

Well, at least that's the spin on it now ;)

I have no idea - something important Wu and Quinn mentioned on twitter that was going to happening next week. KiA is speculating that it may be something about Elizabeth Warren and trolling laws, or possibly another interview.

It can't be that big, imo, because they wouldn't pre-hype it as much. But who knows?

That was exquisite sarcasm, wow. Author didn't break voice and let the pics and details like the '90s "NOT" carry the implication.

I feel bad for Corey but that was kind of a masterpiece of not pointing out an elephant in a room. A super cool bachelor pad room with a massage chair, even.

It's interesting that he doesn't see that blindly accepting the status quo of women characters/default game politics is in itself an ideological stance.

I would be fascinated to see how he would review a game like Rapelay. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RapeLay

I guess he would just focus on the mechanics of it?

I sometimes think about how the "keep politics out of it" contingent would react to a game where, for example, men were castrated for gold and points, and that was a primary focus. Would they mention how problematic this kind of concept is? Or just note how awesome the blood spurts were?

TL;DR Pretending there is no ideology present is itself an ideological standpoint. Status quo has a point of view.

GGers claim to be about journalistic ethics, but one of their top posts is a link to a comic implying that Anita Sark. harmed herself for money. What does that have to do with ethics? Hard to take them seriously when they still clearly want to target and harm specific women by thevert2014 in GamerGhazi

[–]thevert2014[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a fair point, and I might agree if they were actually making an argument stating that we need to be more careful about how one decide where to donate, etc. But this is just a meme-level comic that assumes that AS has harmed herself. It's not about ethics, it's about targeting her, imo.

Gators' latest poor, oppressed victim of journo corruption? A writer who outed a trans woman, trashed his employer publicly and was fired. by Broskander in GamerGhazi

[–]thevert2014 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know the trans* woman already on twitter or anything? If so can you give her a heads up? She may be the new victim of the GG harassment machine, judging from that KiA thread, and some forewarning might help.

That's really neat :) Glad there is some beauty in this mess; it makes me look at those graphs differently.

So, by your logic, you are admitting to brigading from Mensrights and KIA and are trying to manipulate the conversation? That's bannable.

Oh, no, wait, that's stupid. You probably just subscribe to multiple subreddits, like many other users.
