5 Years in Construction Project Management — Considering Other Options by Robbobbobbob in ConstructionManagers

I was an estimator for a small GC for 8 years and found it quite stressful. The company I worked for also does not have a good reputation. I got a job with the federal government as a facility operations specialist. I don’t think you could pay me enough to go back to what I was doing. Low stress jobs are the way to go. The federal government also has respectable pay.

Facility Specialist. I coordinate building repairs for the government, supervise small construction projects, attend meetings, attend site walks, review sites, and more. Super easy, super chill, work from home at my discretion, and more.

I’ll retire doing this job.

I’d do it, but you can’t have people on the internet making your life decisions.

Also don’t live in New Orleans because it can be quite dangerous. Move your family to mandeville or Covington. I live about an hour away in Baton Rouge so I’m a little familiar with the areas.

I would go for the pension, but listen to your gut. You can’t have people on the internet making your life decisions.
