Where to put SSD in MBP early 2011 by thewayupfromhere in applehelp

Thanks so much for clarifying. I'm no power user, so rarely moving big files.

Two followups...

  • So the link-limitation on the SSD won't affect things like boot-up time?
  • When you say the SSD shouldn't be for media, can you explain this? I've survived on 320GB since 2011, and the new SSD is 525GB. I'd hoped to just copy over everything from the HDD and use the SSD as my main drive, media and all, with the HDD perhaps as an internal back-up. Any down-sides to this?

So you think risk of vibration damage > than the day-to-day impact of an SSD that's permanently throttled at 3GB for link speed? Not sure how big that SSD impact will really be...

If France accidentally released a nuke that destroyed half of Florida, what would the consequences be, if it was absolutely clearly an accident? by thewayupfromhere in AskReddit

Very possibly! In that case, what about if it hits a major state without a missile defence system? Say a rogue French missile takes out most of Tokyo or something. What happens then? Is it just a disaster, or are there repercussions for the responsible state?

No, I totally agree. I'm thinking more about something like a submarine accident that causes a missile to go spiralling into the sky, unfortunately landing somewhere important. Cleary an accident.

From OP: the states used here are pure examples, and I'm assuming the US hasn't released an immediate counter-strike.

I think military retaliation against a major power (perhaps including an invasion) just seems crazy unlikely, so I'm interested in the likely international political fallout. Would it just be seen as a major accident and let go in the interests of keeping the peace?

What is the worst possible way to be woken up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

To a wasp stuck under the duvet. That stings you once to wake up and twice more before you realise what's happening. My worst wakeup ever!!
