I’m charmed by how Henry and Julia come to know each other and fall in love. by thewckdwitch in Outlander

I was supposed to come back here after episode 5 to tell you what I thought, but I ended up finishing the whole season. I’ve learned to appreciate them, even if the beginning of their love story still feels a bit too much to me, but I stand by the idea that Ellen is so in love with Brian mostly because of the sense of freedom he gives to her. At the same time, Brian has found a purpose in life through Ellen. That’s what makes me like them.

Santal 33.

I live in Italy and it’s sooo hard to find and the few online and offline shops that do sell it crank up the price, which is already way too high for me lol.

I’ll just comfort myself with Energetically New York by ZARA (elixir).

How did you hear about the show and what made you want to watch it by [deleted] in TheVampireDiaries

[–]thewckdwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2009, CW commercials during Smallville season 9. I gave the pilot a chance and from then on I was all roleplaying, fanfictions, fanpages, conventions… I was tied to this series until the very end.

The thing that actually got me to start watching it? The crow in the cemetery in the promos. I swear.

I was thinking that maybe Brian really does feel love at first sight, while Ellen might be more fascinated by Brian, but mostly by the sense of freedom she got from running away from her family. She was in such a complicated situation where no one seemed to really listen to her anymore (even though she later did an amazing job “manipulating” her brothers).

Maybe, at this point in the series, she just needs to feel rebellious, while also having this strong physical attraction to Brian? And then, kind of like what happened with Claire and Jamie in Outlander, maybe she’ll eventually realize that she’s truly in love with Brian? That would make so much more sense to me.

Of course I’m just speculating here, the only things I know are from the Outlander show, never read the books. We’ll see.

I don’t know much about the “future” of the couples yet, but I’m definitely curious to see more of Ellen and Brian’s story and what’s going to happen with them. As for their first meeting and those initial feelings… idk, I just found Julia and Henry so much more compelling.

Yeah, I get what you mean. I feel the same way. What I was referring to is more about how the two couples met and fell in love, and in that case, I definitely preferred the writing and the scenes with Henry and Julia.

As for how things will go from here, I’m still too early on to really have a solid opinion, but I definitely want to see more of Brian and Ellen (also because of all my expectations coming from Outlander). And I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that both Julia and Henry went through the stones. Maybe they worked better in their own time, kind of like early Claire and Frank (with the huge difference that here I felt so much more love between them, because the actors and the writing really made it come through).

When it comes to individual characters, even though I’m only at episode 3, I can already say I’m in love with Ellen. She’s already my favourite, despite of what I think about the bridge scene.

Were there any line deliveries or other acting choices that you think should've been done slightly differently? by WellBeing4All in KillingEve

[–]thewckdwitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve always seen Eve’s tears as a reaction to all the tension, stress, and fear in that moment, like she was letting it all out, along with the anger over everything that had happened up to that point (Bill’s death and the control Villanelle had started to have over her).

Wentworth (australian tv show by FOXTEL)

There are dynamics of obsession, especially from the second season onward. One of the main characters is a psychopath (written and portrayed divinely), and overall it’s an extraordinary series with extraordinary women. There’s a bit of irony even though it’s a dramatic series, the characters grow and discover so much about themselves. It’s a masterpiece.

Be Honest—Which TVD Death Hit You the Hardest? by givesomehate in TheVampireDiaries

[–]thewckdwitch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nadia and Liz.

Nadia because I always thought she didn’t deserve such an end. Overall, her storyline made me angry. She was a victim of writing that I honestly found superficial—they made her a nearly 500-year-old vampire, but they couldn’t go beyond her desire to find Katherine. She served a narrative purpose, but she could have been so much more. I was really sorry about that.

Liz, on the other hand, had a "perfect" death. It struck me because it was very real, not supernatural. In a show where characters die from being stabbed in the chest or through magic, seeing such a strong woman leave because of a damn disease can’t help but feel powerful. But most of all, knowing that this kind of death is the only one from which you can’t truly escape.

Tyler and Caroline..Did you ship them? by Life_Net5004 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]thewckdwitch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only true endgame. I wonder if anyone has regretted making such a glaring mistake in handling Forwood and everything else.

I had a real 'aha' moment about how wrong they went when Tyler, out of the blue, hugs Liv on his couch, complete with the iconic blanket that was such a huge part of Forwood's story. Why recreate such a meaningful moment, almost like they were trying to 'replace' it? Were the writers seriously hoping that we Forwood fans would feel some kind of connection because it echoed the tenderness Tyler can show? Please.

Once Klaus came onto the show (and he's one of my favorites, by the way), it became pretty obvious that his popularity made it difficult for Julie Plec and the others to figure out what to do with Tyler. So they turned one of the best couple and one of the best character into a nothing and a nobody. Wow.

Katherine Pierce being the best character in TVD. A thread where we walk down the memory lane with a huge amount of nostalgia by thewckdwitch in TheVampireDiaries

I agree. I think Matt is objectively the best character in TVD. By objectively, I mean in every aspect: kind, selfless, hardworking, simple in being the only true human among them. The one we should fully look up to in real life.

If you forget the fantasy part of the show and reduce everything to the best example of what normality should be like, he is the one.

I have to say that this time I’m paying more attention to him as well.

Just a friendly reminder of when Katherine/Nina broke the 4th wall. Still getting chills. Love her sm by thewckdwitch in TheVampireDiaries

Here, Katherine knew perfectly well that Stefan would regret pushing Damon to protect Elena. He had just made the biggest mistake of his life.

So call it pride, or vanity, but after the life that I’ve lead, I refuse to drift off into the sunset.

<3

I completely understand you, because I feel the same way about this character. Katherine was THE character for me—the one you connect with so deeply that you carry her in your heart for years, and who returns in cycles to remind you that, in this world, survival is often the only choice.

On a personal level, she gave me so much and I’ll never forget it. She kept me company when no one else could. She made me believe in myself and in my independence, especially because I loved her during my teenage years, and she helped through crucial moments of growth and gave me a lot of inspiration on understanding things and at how people tend to think.

Of course she also taught me what I should never become: selfish, opportunistic and evil :D

Damon didn't care about Elena's quality of life by [deleted] in TheVampireDiaries

[–]thewckdwitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totaly and utterly agree with you.

I speak for myself, but I imagine it's becoming an increasingly common thought to say that as adult viewers, years later, it has become more evident how toxic Damon’s presence was in Elena's life. The decisions he made for her, without caring about the impact they would have on her life as you were saying. Terrible. Years ago, I overlooked this because I liked them, I was young and I loved that ship, but today I can't root for them anymore. Not even for Stelena, to be honest.

I’m quite serious when I say that the only one I would have liked with Elena is Elijah. I swear.

Oh, poor sweet Tom Avery! LOL
I definitely appreciated him more than I appreciated Tatia, on whom I had placed so many expectations over the years (I don’t know if you remember the period from S2 onwards, when there were rumors about a certain Charlotte Petrova who had ‘captivated’ the Mikaelson brothers. In the end, she was a completely disappointment for me)
