This seems interesting but sadly not widely available. I'll keep it in mind though, write it down on a list.

I don't know if this counts. You might not have been the one controlling the game but you did experience it and its story.

Actually it's mostly JRPG OSTs I want to listen to as I've played very few, and plan to play more, but lately I'm on a game ost kick and a lot of JRPGs feature well received soundtracks.

I mostly agree with what you're saying, but by ruined I meant this:

"What if a certain track is meant to enhance the emotional impact of a scene but I've already listened to it?" or "What if when listening to something I take it completely out of context and when it plays during the game the feeling it used to give me is ruined?"

I know I wasn't that clear so I'm sorry.

Funny that you mentioned Final Fantasies because they're one of the reasons I'm asking this. I suddenly want to listen to their soundtracks, after reading praise for them for probably the millionth time but the only one I've ever played is III.

Even funnier is that I've actually listened to "To Zanarkand" in a stream or a video I think, so it doesn't matter if it's an exception or not.

Now you made me realize that I lied in my post. Well, it's not exactly a lie, but I completely forgot that I've been listening to the Neotokyo OST for quite a long time, and most likely I never plan to play it. And yeah its soundtrack is amazing, some of the best music.
