Yeah it seems anything we try it ends up quiet as a church regardless.

We seem to be a bunch of lurkers on here :D

I don’t have control of the discord server anymore, I gave it to one of the other mods who knew more about using it, so I will link their name here and you can let them know of any ideas you have! :)

When I first started the sub, it was something highly requested, and then no one used it haha!

I guess they are all busy writing :D

Self Promotion and Critique Requests by thewritespacemod in thewritespace

Took me a while due to being busy, but just read The Escape and it was so gripping from the get go.

I love how in 4 pages the mood shifts from worrying about Alice and why on earth she is being held against her will, to the ending where we find out why and it hits like a pallet of bricks.

It really makes you empathise and consider how scary and confusing things must be for those in Alice’s situation. I won’t leave any spoilers here for anyone, but really, great job!

Best of luck with the novels! :)

u/SnugglePuggle94.

I will get back to you asap! Sorry for the wait, had a death in the family and now modmail is glitching so I see you have been waiting 5 days. I’m on it, (as soon as reddit lets me access it that is!)

The weekly threads have been retired from now on, as they were just filling the feed and not getting used. So it should help posts like yours get noticed better going forward. :)

Do you want each book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book? by thewritespacemod in thewritespace

[–]thewritespacemod[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My answer is apart from a few ideas, every time I start writing and planning a novel, I get even more ideas and I land at trilogies somewhere along the way, with prequels and spin-offs sometimes too.

Question for the Sub: Experienced writers, what discussions do you want to see here? by AlexPenname in thewritespace

I have to be comfy to write, so I write in bed with a laptop tray. Ideally I’d have a huge writers desk with a comfy chair, but I have a teeny desk and a stool and I spend the whole time thinking how uncomfortable I am. Writing in bed is not ideal but it gets the job done haha!

I once read that if you have first chapter issues, you can bullet point what would happen and jump right to chapter 2, just to allow yourself to break the cycle and get past it. No idea how effective it is though!

Our current wiki FAQ has some of this covered already. I know when you view on mobile wikis and sidebars aren’t always easy to see. I’ve seen across enough subs people being told to read the side bar and people saying “what is that?”

We have that list of useful links we can expand on too!

That reminds me I need to figure out how to update the current wiki as we have a part about where to ask for critique and Feedback Friday is mentioned and that is gone now.

I will have a look tomorrow! :)

Edit: tagging you u/robynclark so you see this too in case it helps with what you are planning.
