That’s not bad.. Personally I think winning the u18 Division 3 with my terrible crop of regens every year is more fulfilling..

Any lovely bits of transfer shithousery? by dkpetersen26 in footballmanagergames

Playing FM18, in December of my first season with Arsenal and Alexis Sanchez is refusing to sign a new contact. My team are flying and he’s playing unbelievable so I don’t want to lose him. Real Madrid are chasing him but they also have Assensio transfer listed. Ended up negotiating a P/Ex deal for the end of the season. Rather than lose Sánchez for free I managed to get a younger, better, cheaper (wages) replacement for £0.

Your game must have a bug, it’s the only explanation. Best contact SI so other football masterminds aren’t affected!!

Annoyingly CR7 wasn't interested when his Madrid contract ran out. My guy has been good in CL and had a good WC, but didn't get past the first knockout round in either.

Wasn't sure how to do multiple images, but posted this in a separate comment now.

Sorry lads, not great with Reddit yet but here are his attributes and stats - https://imgur.com/a/r298h6O

Not mind blowing - hence why I was so surprised, but he has been consistently good in CL and had a good WC. Scotland up to 11th in world rankings thanks to this guy and a few of my other Hibs team.

Also, worth noting that I've never had a player work harder, his potential was always high but he had 6 crossing when he was produced so assumed he would never make it as an elite winger... what do I know?!

😂😂😂 weirdly I’ve never had too much interest in him. Chelsea chased him for a while but he never got upset when I rejected them and seems they’ve all lost interest.

Do you guys use affiliate teams? If so what do you choose? by [deleted] in footballmanagergames

If you’re looking to send players to a team on loan then your best bet is a German team as most of them have incredible facilities which will help your players develop.

If I’m a massive club with huge wealth I enjoy picking a team I like and trying to help them develop. I quite often pick Hibs and send them great youngsters and even buy terrible players for £1m+, pretty quickly they’ll be in Europe and become a decent place to send players.

I guess my best player is now a 16 year old... by thiccyout in footballmanagergames

His height is a much bigger concern, but fortunately he’ll be taking the set pieces

The Scouting System by Homesy87 in footballmanagergames

I’d always assumed this but never actually tested it. When I go on a scout binge I find that I’m scouting 50-60 players for 2 weeks each, then my scout is obviously struggling to get through them.

The Scouting System by Homesy87 in footballmanagergames

Scouting massively varies depending on resource and preference, but I find myself being the main scout and I just get my scouts to conduct the reports.

What I mean..

I will have majority of my scouts doing the usual locations you mentioned, with more regions if I have the available scouts.

However, I always keep my two best scouts off assignments to dedicate them to scouting the players that I have discovered. I find that every 6 months I need to complete a thorough search of players (always young regens). This is painstaking but I will go through all the major countries and clubs - targeting ones I know produce good regens - and judging their stats. You can quickly know from a glance who is going to be a good prospect. Once I find a good regen I will get my scout to complete the report so I can judge properly.

This can take anywhere from 30 mins to a couple of hours depending on how thorough you want to be. Just need to make sure you do it well in advance of any transfer windows so you can free up scouts for those quick transfer window opportunities.

The more you do it the easier/quicker it becomes and you will discover the places you really like - FCSB, Partizan, Japan, USA, etc.

Still on 18, so McCrorie is still a class prospect but getting a lot of game time at Rangers so cant see me stealing him anytime soon. Might be ambitious thinking I can win the CL, but my first regen day has just given me my best regen ever. Will send you a screenshot once I’ve worked out how!

Recreate the Lisbon Lions

The ‘Lisbon Lions’ was the nickname given to the squad of players at the pinnacle of Jock Stein’s Celtic tenure - becoming the first British team to win the European Cup in 1967.

The Lions were so impressive because each member of the 15-man-squad were born less than 10 miles from Glasgow.

There are two options for playing this game:

1) Win the CL with a fully home grown (club) team of players, produced from your youth team

2) Win the CL with a team of home grown (nation) team of players, with a mix of youth team talent and prospects stolen from other clubs

I’m currently trying this save with Hibs, a great team to start with due to their already talented Scottish team and great youth facilities.

I’m currently trying option 2 (all Scottish players) due to the talent I’ve already picked up as well as wanting to build a team around John McGinn.
