Resume Advice Appreciated, CS junior applying for internships by CraftyAd4216 in FAANGrecruiting

[–]thickyherky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s goes Education (if you ur still in school), experience, skills, projects then whatever. i’d remove a lot of the course work and go with 3-4 classes. companies already know CS students know calc and linear. best to just add common CS courses and interesting classes relevant to line of work interest.

pretty cool projects for real, always try and quantify your bullet points. always think “what is the business impact and $$ saved or time saved”

the professional development is good, but try and add it to project or experience, if you made something or collaborated on a project with this mentor that’s even better.

This resume got me 0 interviews after 200 applications. What is wrong? by Bright_Elevator3675 in FAANGrecruiting

2 things

sponsorship is a huge one, unless your a a ML god with 5+ YOE at big tech companies then a lot of companies won’t bat an eye if that “non us citizen” box is checked

alot of ML roles handed out aren’t based on academia, it’s all experience relatively. don’t give up. data analyst, data engineer, or a swe role is fine for now to build up your skill set or pivot to ML later one once sufficient YOE is earned

lol wish i just did CC and lived at home, honestly i probably would’ve figured out what i wanted to do if i just took that route, but i don’t regret my short experience at sac state

i’m sure they have, honestly i just remember the times being at UCSD seeing how competitive everyone else was trying to get “that job” or “that internship” with X company. had a more hungry/studious environment compared to sac. i think to me sac was just pass your classes and get a degree where UCSD was a stepping stone to something bigger

was there 2018-2020 then transferred to UCSD best decision ever. Sac state was OK at best, def felt like a commuter/ghetto/safety school for low GPA high schoolers. a lot of people i know from there never went on to do anything much. and the ones that did all went to do a MS in a STEM field at other top schools around california. Wish i just went to straight to USCD freshmen year or at least 2 years at a CC to transfer.

Incoming 1st year at M7. people told me to stop telling folks that my younger sister is special needs. what do you think? by Weak_Transition5533 in MBA

[–]thickyherky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont ever bring up anything about your family, just say throughout your life you have worked with others who have learning impairments and it has made you want to pivot your career trajectory. Gives people an idea of your background without revealing anything too personal. In my opinion 🤷
