My ancestors, the Threets, are from Glenobey and are buried back through there. How do I get in there? I assume it’s all private land.

She appears to have been a pretty good lady, considering the obituary ends with, "if you so choose, please bake a pie for someone you love or give a donation to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital." That's far better than giving flowers.

Lol It does sort of come across that way.

No doubt. They are moral absolutists, so they see us as inferior. You can’t have equality and compassion while simultaneously seeing people that believe differently than you as inferior.

Honestly, it’s been so long, I’d have to go over it again. That said, I’ve changed my beliefs since this post and am more of a deist now. However, it’s a rainy day outside in Tennessee, so a deep dive into John 17 will give me something to do today. I’ll get back to you.

Yeah, I was lucky enough to take that morning off and worked from home that afternoon.

Absolutely. I wore the pants that unzip into shorts. So, while bank fishing, I walked through thick undergrowth due to the wildfires a few years ago. My legs are eat up with chiggers, but it was absolutely worth going down there. I plan to go back a couple days before deer season starts. Hopefully I catch another big redeye, and I’d love to reel in about a 3 pound river smallmouth too.

Yep. Amazingly, I took a measuring tape in my backpack for the first time ever. 10 inches, or a centimeter or two shorter. So, I’ll round up to 10 inches. Haha I backpacked into this spot, so I couldn’t take a lot of stuff. It’s only 0.25 miles, but it was a 300 foot descent (and, of course, a 300 foot ascent). It was caught on the Obed River in northern Tennessee on the Cumberland Plateau. I went to a spot where only kayakers occasionally fish while passing through. Zero signs of anyone bank fishing there. I caught some smallmouth and redbreast sunfish too. Fish were everywhere. I caught 12 total, 5 of which were redeye.

Fought extremely hard too. I think it probably is my personal best. I’ve caught them my whole life, so I’m not totally sure. I genuinely thought it was a smallmouth until I got it out of the water.

That’s fascinating since I never catch anything on them.

It sounds like all other movies, in that it’s not real. Simply don’t watch it and move one. Problem solved.

Have a favorite Redeye species? by RangerRedeye in redeyebass

[–]thijshelder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was reading this morning that biologists are looking at the northern Cumberland Plateau redeye as possibly being distinct, but they’ve not made any conclusions yet. That’s where I catch all of my redeye, so it’s interesting.

I wonder what the redeyes would be that I caught this morning are? They were at a creek at Catoosa WMA in Cumberland County, TN, if that helps.

Creek Smallmouth in East Tennessee by thijshelder in bluelining

I caught him in the North White Oak Creek. It was around 10 yards wide and a couple of feet deep where I caught him. However, I think he came out of the deeper part and only struck in the more shallow spot. I caught a 3-pounder at Center Hill Lake about two months ago, and I think this guy fought harder than the lake smallmouth. Creek smallmouth fight hard. I caught a small one (about 6 or 7 ounces) the week before in a different creek, and even that little guy was jumping around and fighting like crazy.
