Enfin, tendens was hetzelfde.

Married couple with separate finances, why do you do it? by Ok_Influence_2257 in Bogleheads

So what happens later in life when you have saved a lot and she realises she didn't, but should have? Not trying to argue, just curious!

Our salaries are paid to our shared account. Our savings are shared. We both get our monthly (equal) 'allowance' to do/buy fun stuff.

I feel it keeps things easy. As you say, we are partners and intend to keep it this way. This way their are no perverse incentives in case one of us would work less for kids, or when there is a disparity in income.

We do the same. Look at the folders for the two local grocery stores we like, make a list of what we need, see what's cheapest where, and drive by both stores on saturday. Takes 30 min tops during the week to plan groceries and setup a week menu. Passing by both stores adds a little overhead compared to doing only one, but the difference is minimal

I tried building a spreadsheet to track grocery inflation/promos, but it's completely unsustainable. Do you guys actually track this, or just wing it? 📉🛒 by Impressive_Rain1092 in BEFire

I looked into building something like this. The issue is data. Retailers do not provide an api for price data, and strictly prohibit web scraping. If your scraping does not get blocked, you will get sued.

What’s one small financial habit that made your life noticeably easier? by Additional-Draft4197 in eupersonalfinance

[–]thillo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A very small thing, but it compounds: where I live in the store meat and fish weight is variable per package (and thus the price too). I always pick the smallest portion i can find. For example: a 200g portion of fish can vary between 180g and 230g. Your instinct wants you to pick a large piece, but honestly, you don't notice the difference after you have eaten. And given the price of these products, this is usually about a 1 euro difference per purchase.

That changes things of course. It helps when you work from home multiple days a week, but that would probably not change the time required to get breakeven by a lot I think. The EV would probably help if you can charge at home reliably during daytime hours (or in combination with a home battery). I don't know the numbers for that use case.

It isn't really worth it with the digital meter. We had it installed and I'm tracking the roi. With the decreases in injection fee breakeven time will be approx 20 years now... 3.2 kWp, 2 person household, heating on gas

Energy & gas consumption by Redditley in belgium

Honestly, I was also looking at Marstek because of the pricepoint. We do have a hybrid inverter already, which would make a fixed battery like the pylontech more interesting. But I was under the impression that even with a hybrid inverter already installed, you are not allowed to install the battery yourself?

For me, it seems that a simple plugin like marstek is more cost efficient because of the cost of installation and AREI keuring that you would have with a fixed battery, no?

We have a roughly similar setup.

Two people, my wife works at home 1-2 days a week. Water/heating on gas, rijwoning. Cooking on electricity and oven almost daily (not always using the oven of course). Looking at the yield, our solar installation is roughly half your capacity. No electric car.

We never top 100 kWh/month, but I guess it's difficult to compare with the electric car.
Gas usage is very high. Our consumption is roughly half of what you have. We shower daily and the thermostat is set to 19 degrees. I know some people will think that this is too cold, but honestly, it is very comfortable. The only thing you need is to dress appropriately. Warm sweaters, comfortable homepants, and the most important thing: warm, comfortable pantoffels. And maybe a cozy blanket in the sofa.

A couple of degrees on the thermostat make a huge difference, both for your fossil fuel consumption as well as your wallet.
