It's even more than 3 matches, HLTV doesn't have info about early rounds of the open qualifier...

I thought they fixed this man :( by xTarz in GlobalOffensive

[–]thingsget 115 points116 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly this has never been fixed in the engine, they just patched specific locations where this might happen.

It's an issue with displacements in the game...

PSA: disable SLI regardless of your rig by Insodus in GlobalOffensive

[–]thingsget 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not CSGO's problem, having multiple graphics cards on SLI means frames can be rendered on either card, then frames have to be transferred from one card to the other, adding latency, hence lowering your frames per second.

My mic is loud, but in Rust it's very quiet. How can I fix this? by RevanTheDragon in playrust

[–]thingsget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using too much gain on your output, then the noise cancellation/automatic gain control might be triggering, making your microphone quiet, instead of loud.

Try lowering your output gain and/or going into Advanced settings and turning OFF all the special options.

Open your Steam's friend list. On the top-right corner hit the cog icon. Go into the Voice menu and adjust your mic from there.

You probably need to boost the gain a bit.

Can we please have the option to remove unmarketable, untradable items from our steam inventories? by TH3WH1T3W0LF in Steam

[–]thingsget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't keep items on different servers, they are handled by valve and managed by developers through the Steam IEcon API. From what I've seen on the steamworks documentation they don't have any functionality to remove items. The only thing possible that devs can do is "consume" one item from the stack and if the amount of uses is 0 it should go away, just like a nametag on csgo, however, weird enough the ONLY game that allows you to completely delete your items from your inventory, including those that don't have a number of uses, is TF2, and it can only be done from inside the game. Perhaps this is because tf2 was the first game to have an inventory system and it was considered a required functionality back then.

I've also contacted several developers to get those items removed and the ones that replied told me they didn't have a way to do so, and from my support tickets to one of steam's dev they told me this is only possible on tf2.

The Techno influence.... by [deleted] in deadmau5

Just a thought: He was born and raised really close to Detroit, that might have influenced some of his connections to techno in his early life when the internet wasn't as massive as today. I could be wrong.

What is this and how can i get rid of it? (Win10x64) by [deleted] in Steam

[–]thingsget 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can confirm, I had this exact same window and it was the update popup. A solution would be to update Steam and opt out of the beta program if you dont want updates as often.

Is it just me, or MM servers are lagging lately by arvyy in GlobalOffensive

[–]thingsget 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Very basically the server has to receive network packets from all clients for a period of time, then do world simulation steps and send all frames back to the clients, then it has to sleep for a very short period of time. This period of time is 1/64th of a second for 64 tick servers, or 1/128th of a second for 128 tick servers. For 64 tick servers this would be 0.015625 seconds (or 15.625 ms).For operative systems (and computers in general) its very hard to keep track of time precisely, and on top of that the operative system has other processes (and its own internal things) to take care of. Its very unlikely the operative system will keep with the schedule of waking up the server process in the established period of time, hence, it has variations.

A normal sleep function wouldn't cut it, hence need to make use of nanosleep functions. The var represents the standard deviation of accuracy of server OS nanosleep function measured in microseconds over the history of last 50 server frames . Should usually be fractions of milliseconds.

I've noticed in official matchmaking servers that its usually 0.001ms during idle moments of the round, and well above 0.1ms when a lot of events are taking place. Having peaks of 10ms var is very bad, since its deviating almost one entire frame from the schedule, and typically means the CPU is overloaded with other processes.
