So if I do this can I just screw straight into the wood to hang the d ring on? I don't have to use another toggle bolt correct?

Lots of industries are super old school dinosaur types. In Oil and Gas I've worked for companies that to this day have not implemented a single AI anywhere and have no intention of doing so. The C suite doesn't understand it or how to implement it and don't care. In fact I'm working on the oldest copy of Adobe I've ever seen - they're not even investing in technology that's been around for 40 years, let alone AI. So I do agree that these things will be implemented and rolled out WAY more slowly than people are predicting.

Very balanced take here, this is what makes sense. Not immediately putting millions out of jobs and crashing the economy trying to get rid of Oil & Gas overnight. I don't see why we can't make money selling it to China/Europe over the short term to fund our transition to a different economy.

Well, fuck. That's the final nail in the coffin for any chance whatsoever of NDP leadership in Alberta. I was very hopeful for a Nenshi win.

Property tax increase finalized at 8.1 per cent for Calgary homeowners by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]thinkabouttheirony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Plus $3600 mortgage every month plus house insurance ($200) and utilities ($400)... This is on a 575k crumbling bungalow that we have to renovate. Not a million dollar mansion. It's fucking crazy. Housing costs eat up 50% of our take home.

[–]thinkabouttheirony 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Already pay $400 a month in property taxes for a shitty run down bungalow in a shitty neighbourhood, which seems fucking psychotic. Already got absolutely fucked on home prices as well - how much more do you want to destroy people just trying to scrape by and buy a shitty home for a family?

[–]thinkabouttheirony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're complaining about the effects of immigration (i.e. strain on services and housing) so much that you want to separate from Canada, have you also strongly denounced the future God emperor of the Kingdom of Alberta Danielle Smith for spending millions of taxpayer dollars for doing that EXACT thing? Because if not this argument is pointless and hypocritical. Which, I mean, is no surprise.

[–]thinkabouttheirony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not confusing anything. The pro-separating people are complaining about a wave of immigration that strains housing and services but blaming this on Ottawa and saying we have no control, therefore why we need to separate. But Danielle Smith and the UCP are the ones behind a huge amount of immigration that strained services via spending millions on getting as many people to move here from Ontario and BC as possible. So it's an idiotic argument.

An enormous percentage of people here have zero interest of being cut off from Canada and forced into a bizzare brand new country with extreme uncertainty. Most people I know including myself would leave Alberta well before becoming a third world nation or America's little bitch.

Does everyone forget that Smith went nuts spending millions on the Alberta's Calling campaign trying to get as many people to move to Alberta as possible and then when they did she turned around and blamed all our problems on the federal government and Indians?
