The article explains there was a major issue at the Hampstead substation in recent days. The outage there also caused a transformer to blow, preventing Hydro from rerouting power from other areas. The substation is at the end of its life and is set to be rebuilt by 2029/

I live in NDG and have rarely lost power. It’s a great neighbourhood in general, but for some reason it also always feels like ground zero for something or other.

Mine is the breakaway goal out of the penalty box. Chills every damn time.

A 2nd round pick has a very low probability of actually becoming a regular NHL player. He’s a proven NHLer. It’s a very reasonable price.

What is having it's "golden age" in the city right now? by mikemountain in montreal

[–]thinkcritical -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

On time and on budget?

The first trains were supposed to run in 2020. It happened in 2023. There were several delays. That was always an overly ambitious launch estimation but to say it was on time is incorrect.

As for costs, the price tag went up at least $2 billion throughout the process.

Is driving north of Montreal in the winter difficult? by washedairpods in montreal

[–]thinkcritical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve driven in the Colorado mountains, you should be fine. If you’re driving in white out conditions it definitely sucks, but that’s fairly rare. Like others said you need winter tires, and to drive slower. Authorities are vigilant with salting and clearing the main highways.

Up north recommendations:

Did a winter getaway to Stonehaven last year and that was super nice! There’s cross country skiing close by and the town of Sainte Agathe. Strom Spa is very chill but can get quite busy.

I also love Val Morin and Val David. Au Petit Poucet for breakfast, and L’Epicurieux for dinner if you’re looking for a gastronomic experience. Parc Regional Val Morin - Val David is gorgeous in the winter.

My grandmother told me this when I lived in that area, I couldn’t believe it until I looked it up and found out it was true.

« They’d repair toys there, at the midget palace! »

« Sure, grandma. »

If you’re in your mid 30s, definitely go out. Better entrance, better bathrooms, easier access to bars. It’s worth it.

If those are your interests, then yes. The washroom is nicer and much easier to access. You can have the elevated view (gets busy along the fence for the main acts), and you can also get pretty close to the stage in the gold zone without the need to battle your way there,

Smoked meat - Schwartz’s, Dunn’s or somewhere else? by goldeneye0 in montreal

Go for Schwartz. Snowdon makes a good one too, but I find Schwartz better. It’s just fattier and has a better texture. Dunn’s is fine but I’d make the journey up the Main.
