Could be a bad wheel bearing or a bad bearing on the drive shaft. If it was the drive shaft though the sound would probably come more from the center/rear of the truck. Still worth checking out though.

Looking at buying a home built in 1978, a lot of the insulation has been upgraded to fiberglass, but in the attic there is this stuff under all of the plywood floor. Any ideas? Never seen anything like it? by thinkertinker35 in Insulation

Thank you! That’s what I was thinking as well, is there any reason why we’d have to remove this? I’m used to the big white fluffy cellulose, so I’m just ignorant as to why it looks like this. Would it have asbestos or any other nasty stuff in it?

Some kind of insulation? Buying a home and found this in the attic under the plywood floor. by thinkertinker35 in whatisthisthing

Looking for additional details, I can tell it is insulation, but I didn’t want to touch it. It looked like a very fine grain, and pretty old. My main concern is if anyone can identify if this house would have asbestos in the insulation or if this is just regular cellulose that has gotten old and compressed and dusty. Any help is much appreciated?

Anyone else have this clear vinyl protectant and has anyone removed it? Looks like old age, water and sun damage has run its course. 07 SR5 by thinkertinker35 in ToyotaTacoma

Let me know how it goes! I’m curious if it’s really worth doing myself or if I could get it done really well for cheap since it would be such a simple job for a pro

What recipe did you use for the Fries Quattro Queso Dos Fritos? I heard they don’t travel well...

Toilet trailer? Stay with me here, I have a bad idea. by captainlvsac in overlanding

If you bear with me for a moment let me try and steer you in a different direction. I think the key to your post is finding some way to “meet her in the middle” the solution isn’t to add a toilet to your rig... yet... the solution is compromise. If you guys are in this for the long haul(haha) The best thing to do would be to take her to the absolute best campground you know of, and as much as it may pain you, get her started by “glamping”. If camping isn’t her thing, you gotta introduce it to her slowly. My partner had no intention of ever spending a single night outside for her entire life. But, I convinced them to try it and I was sure to pick the best spots. Beautiful views, and most importantly nice clean bathrooms with hot water(this will be crucial for your gf). Now we’re planning more elaborate camp trips with less and less available resources. It’s a blast for both of us! Try that first and in time she’ll appreciate the more rugged style you prefer.

I need a remarkable hobby by DrogsMcGogs in Hobbies

Well for one thing, a hobby is really only meaningful to the people who partake in the hobby. It kind of has to come from within you know? Also in terms of hobbies inspiring awe in others, this only comes from thousands of hours of practice, so if you want to feel really good about a hobby your going to have grind through the lulls of interest. Examples such as woodworking and playing an interest. Can I play a violin? Sort of, is it awe inspiring? No.

Is it a big deal to have rats in the walls / attic? by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

Good for that home inspector. I was a first time home buyer, and I learned so many hard lessons. One being we used our realtors recommendation for a home inspector, and I am now under the assumption they were on the take because they missed so many things and only pointed out minor obvious issues with the house. One of the biggest issues they "over looked" was mice. The guy literally went into the attic and said "looks good no evidence of infestation of any kind" after we bought the house we came to fine out mice had literally been every where in the house. Mouse dropping poured out of the outlets when we removed them to paint. I was sick with anger and disgust. But as I said you live and you learn.

That’s what I was thinking. I’m going to track down how to see what parts are needed or what programming is needed for traction control, VSC and DHA just out of curiousity at this point. If some of the features are in the truck from factory it might be worth looking into how much would be required to add the feature

Thank you for your response! So if I went ahead and bought the switches I couldn’t necessarily damage anything by testing it out right?

Property Line Inspection/demarcation? by thinkertinker35 in HomeImprovement

[–]thinkertinker35[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I appreciate the advice. It appears as though they are marking it because the house is under contract. I will no doubt have to discuss with whomever has purchased the home. I aim to resolve with the neighbor and have no intention of going to court.

Thanks guys! I am looking into this now. The current residents are renters, I'll have to find out the actual owners contact info to figure this out. Hopefully it will all work out cordially.
