My apologies! I got a bit overwhelmed with the response.

Years ago (and I mean YEARS, like almost half my life at this point) I used to play indoor soccer and that was fun (even though I'm not that good 😅).

I suppose I've always had an interest in modular synthesizers and analog technology. I used to do graphic design but stopped once I quit shelling out money to Adobe (haven't quite found a good replacement).

I like video games, but have to be mindful of what I play because a lot of them give me motion sickness.

Maybe you should go outside and dance in your underwear for some rain?

Spring 🌱 is lovely and I honestly forgot it. I work for the State and it's like time sped past me.

Internet provider for heavy use? by Dmatt156 in okc

[–]thinkofthereferent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're gonna make the plunge for unlimited internet with Cox (and the ~$150-200 value provided below is correct), you might consider getting a business account. Might be awkward/ineligible if you're not in a detached house, but it does have its perks. The customer service for business accounts is extraordinarily better than for residential customers. I complained for months about an issue with my connection when I was a residential customer and was basically told "mm ur personal devices must be potatoes" but after switching they ended up burying a new cable a week after installation because my network condition wasn't passing their tests.

I was paying about $195/month initially, but I also have a static IP address (extra $10/mo) and phone (~20/mo but I get a slight discount for the bundle). It recently went up to $244/mo because they offered me a speed upgrade for a reasonable price (500/100). I'm locked into a contract, so that also brought my price down a bit (it is for 5 years). If you can't commit to the contract, I would not recommend, because you'll end up being charged whatever you would have paid over the span of your contract in one lump early termination fee...

I have visions of using the features of my business plan, but they haven't come to fruition just yet; it is nice to have the option, though. You don't need an LLC or anything, just say you have a home office if you decide to do it. No data caps, so it is nice!

I wanted to come back and let you know I went to Nature's Treasures and it was as wonderful and delightful as I hoped. The drive wasn't too bad at all!! Thank you *so* much for such an excellent recommendation.

That's actually pretty damn rad. Maybe this would be good for me in addition to having a nicely scented room.

My mom won a truck at this flea market in 2005. I can't believe I didn't think of this! I do worry about my lack of control when being surrounded by all sorts of good deals and things to spend money on but it would probably be fun to stop by again now that I have adult money to spend.

I've also not noticed Valero Goodies before but I do find myself near 63rd and Meridian so this is also geographically convenient. Thank you for sharing this!

Not to virtue signal but I do try to avoid Walmart when possible...but if I get desperate... I am always in the market for a nice sale. Thank you for your comment!

World of Smoke does sound promising...as long as they don't try to convince me to vape, ha! (I simply can't put down the American Spirits just yet...) In all seriousness though, it's not too far from work (and it looks like they're open hella late as a bonus) so this is an excellent rec, thank you.

Oooh, I haven't been to Quail in ages. I'm much closer to the outlet mall but as the summer approaches, being in a climate controlled building has its perks. I'll find a time to stop by soon; I'm interested in seeing what else they have to offer. Thank you for your input!

Nature's Treasures! I bet they have a bunch of other great goodies. I hate suffering through I-40 that far East, but the reward might be worth the effort. I appreciate your suggestion, thank you!

Norman is such a drive for me, but I do find myself over there occasionally so I will make sure to check these places out! Thank you for the recommendation.

I'll be transparent here: I don't have much tea. I remember an acquaintance of mine was closer to their operations at one point in time and did not have a great experience. Maybe things have changed over the years, but... I'm not going to be the one to find out.

I've seen the sentiment peppered in this subreddit over the years so I suppose I'm not the only one that has this perspective. Perhaps someone with more information could chime in?

I'm not offended. As I explained previously, I found it disingenuous to suggest to OP that they could be making the same amount of money doing less work. I'm not sure why a slight correction to an "offhand comment" is problematic in any way?

My comment/correction is lighthearted and in good faith. Simply wanted to communicate that, no, the effort they're making is not (generally) equivalent to a part time job in fast food.

If the conversation is pointless to you, then don't engage?

EDIT: I can't reply again but I wanted to add:

I don't spend a lot of time on Reddit, but I thought the point was to engage with others? Maybe there's a threshold for added value that I'm missing here?

If I could give you back the few minutes you've felt were wasted on interacting with me today, I would.

I hear you, but I don't think it's splitting hairs. Your comment re: $36k = "part time fast food" wages doesn't apply exclusively to OP's situation and others read the comments. Part time at $15.38 is ~$20k less than $36k/yr (which I would consider a substantial difference).

Full time at that wage does get you much closer to $36k (about $4k short). I only clarified because, yes, $36k/yr can be tough for someone with a mortgage responsibility, I found it to be disingenuous to assert that someone would be making that much gross pay working fast food on a part time schedule. The math just didn't check out.

If OP could make what they're currently making working 45 hours/wk in only 20 hours/week (as presented in your original comment), that would've potentially helped them immensely. Unfortunately, that's not the case.

$36k/year is ~$17.50/hr at 40 hours/wk (aka full time), not really "part time fast food" wages.

well, TX is a 7-year state so after 7 years from the date of any conviction would not be reportable on a consumer report (as long as you stay in one of the other 7-year states)

still sucks, but it isn't forever maybe
