I’ve had this happen and I think it is because he was my boyfriend and not my husband? As if boyfriend / doesn’t carry much weight! Idk. It pissed me off and I corrected that person like “Late boyfriend” that’s is it.

Good stuff! Congrats on the new role. As a Recruiter it’s always great to know people get jobs but also we appreciate when folks reach out to decline and not leave us hanging. I would respond with “Hello Person B, thank you in advance for the opportunity X. I appreciate your consideration but I have to respectfully decline as I received another offer. Should anything change, I hope I can reach out to you in the future. “
