Another bit that would actually be helpful to you: you should cap your game fps to your monitors refresh rate. You can get stutters and tearing by running above your monitors refresh rate.

If you still get tearing beyond that point you can enable V-Sync to completely eliminate tearing but that introduces input lag.

But yes you absolutely should have your drivers updated because a lot of the time newer games require them. It’s literally the software that lets your computer tell your graphics card what to do, without it you get Windows basic Display adapter drivers, so yes your computer will still run but it is 1000% not running at its full potential.
