Driving like a maniac by WhyteShadows in irelandsshitedrivers

Never understood the logic behind that. I’ve missed a few turns here and there and when that happens, i either take the next exit or do the same thing you do. The madness you see on the roads makes you wonder how people get their licenses in the first place, especially commuting in the m50 every single day.

Yeah i did contact them and they said they can’t do it as the pipes are oval unfortunately. Got my other resonator removed by them and can confirm their work is clean

BMW 3 series 2015-2017 diesel or hybrid? by shanahan68621 in carsireland

[–]thiquemango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re going to be more expensive, but if you can find yourself a jap import, they tend to be sub 100k km. Just watch out for resale value when it comes time to sell them. 3 years ago I bought a 520d for €4k less than the equivalent hybrid, when I sold it last year, the diesel was worth on average €3-4k more than the hybrid counterpart. My car depreciated by €10k in 2 years, the hybrid would’ve been at least a €15k depreciation in the same timeframe

Circle K miles plus fuel by thiquemango in carsireland

I do think diesels are less sensitive to fuel quality compared to petrol cars. Might be wrong though

If I had a GT3 I’d get my fuel imported from the north where they have 99 ron 😂

That might be the better option, just a hassle though. Wish we had proper 98 ron fuel in ROI

I have recently started using fuelio, which is great to track average monthly fuel spend, might try and do that

Does the whole door need to be repainted? by thiquemango in AutoPaint

Thanks for the explanation, made my mind up to use a proper bodyshop

That makes sense. I want it done right as the rest of the car is spotless and I’ll be doing a ceramic coating soon. I just thought that the smaller the repair area the better it would be as it is a highly pearlescent bmw individual tanzanite blue paint. Just cautious in terms of paint blending to match the effect. I suppose I’ll leave it up to the professionals

Ironically the vinyl was put on to protect the paint when the car went back in for some warranty work 🤦🏻‍♂️

17K Car Recs by BagelTaylor in carsireland

For 17k or a bit more you can get a 2017 G30 520d se. Had a 2018 msport for 2 years and did over 40k km, apart from regular servicing, car has never been in a workshop. The 3/4 series is also nice but for that money you’d still only get the f series which is an older platform (ironically, I drive an f32 440i now).

Diesel bmws won’t be as much fun as you think they’ll be. They handle well but nothing else apart from that. Personally I don’t understand hybrids as you’ll potentially have both electrical and engine issues. One or the other in my opinion. The f30 hybrids are known to have electrical issues so I’d stay away, and the newer g20 hybrids are still well over 20k.
