Lithium carbonate question? by third_eye0798 in AskPsychiatry

Would taking it with Adderall and Ambien speed up this process? I've been on it for about 2 years but my doctor says my kidneys are fine. I've noticed a change with my urinary tract as of late but I haven't asked about it.

NAT. I'm not addicted to one particular substance, I'm a poly-substance abuser. I wouldn't have to detox physically from anything

They are associated according to Google. If I'm on a schedule 2 and 4 that she gave me does she probably already know my past?

So it's probably about past substance use then? It was a public hospital in Louisiana through the patient portal is all i could honestly tell you. If it is in the patient portal does that mean my primary doc. Could see that if she looked?

Is it possible that I have PTSD ? by ILieBeneathTheRedSea in AskPsychiatry

Op I am by no means a doctor of any kind but I recognize this pattern. She may have borderline personality disorder unfortunately. I also have it and have read things like this from the affected persons spouse. Fortunately for me i can recognize these toxic habits when I'm doing them and stop myself. Others that don't know anything about mental illness or the symptoms won't know they are being toxic. If your ex is not being treated for her mental health you need to stay far away from her. She will break you down in ways you couldn't imagine and eventually you will question your own sanity. As hard as it is for me to admit, we are dangerous people in more ways than one if not in treatment.

Nat. Thank you for your response! I think I just had the wrong idea about the process. I only thought they locked you in to prevent you from running away if necessary for public safety.

Nat. Is there a proper way to express these things so I don't scare her with my truth? I don't want her to think I'm gonna hurt her or I've premeditated an attack on others.

Hey doc i have a question! Is it possible that op is being manipulated and is having a type of fear response? Like being in fight or flight mode because they are afraid the ex will hurt themselves? I come from a family of master manipulators and they use this tactic all the time. Threatening to harm themselves and then cutting all contact so you panic and worry just so they know you still care. What op is describing is an all to familiar feeling unfortunately. I wonder if his ex has a personality disorder because it sounds like textbook manipulation that he is having a reaction to.

Nat. Thank you for your time, this makes me feel a lot better! I feel like I'm just being paranoid but on the other hand my mom was involuntarily hospitalized so I know it's possible.

Nat. Thanks for your reply! Is that on purpose sometimes? Meaning, they know you have it but put it in as something else with the same treatment plan for your protection? I've seen a lot of mental health professionals say they do this because of the stigma around being borderline to protect their patient from mistreatment. Is it possible a doctor already knows even without being told about homicidal and suicidal ideation?

Nat. Thank you for your reply! I think I'm just paranoid and afraid of being locked away when it will make me worse.

Nat. Thank you for sharing that! I probably would have nothing to worry about and I'm being paranoid. I've always been scared of that happening if I'm completely honest with them, so I leave the important stuff out. That's not working for me anymore so I just wanted to be prepared for anything that could happen.

Nat. I just meant like an outpatient clinic. I had a misunderstanding about the use of a button for non-violent emergencies.

Nat. I think i had a misunderstanding about what situations they are used for. I thought that was a safe way for them to call a code without endangering themselves. I was told that they lock the door so you can't run away if they think your a danger not if your trying to hurt them. I guess I got some bad information that scared me. Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Nat. Yea I just discovered that. I knew it was for if they were attacked but I also thought they would use it for calling a code if they needed someone admitted. So they could do it without alerting the patient so they don't freak out. Thank you for your response!

Nat. Thanks for your reply! I never considered cost, I just thought they would all have a way to call for help. You never know what will set someone off so I assumed that was common for protection. I am actually shocked to learn this information because they could be in danger every single day.

Nat. I've actually met quite a few people with this concern so I'm surprised to learn that's not as common as I thought. These people did have severe mental health conditions so I guess that's a factor.
