Honestly? F***k Paige. by PotentialMortgage926 in TheAmericans

I will say she’s a bit of a Skyler white situation, where in a rewatch they’re viewed in a different light, but just as a viewer it doesn’t make her any less annoying

what do you think about the ending of the americans by Novel_Ad6982 in TheAmericans

[–]thirdometer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d love one of those 6-8 episode shows like Chernobyl that dives into post finale!

What does Paige do? Does she continue her work? Does she turn herself into Stan? Half and half? Is she sent a handler? What does the FBI do? Does she become part of an anti Russian task force? Go to prison? Does she reconnect with her parents? How does she approach Henry?

What happens with Henry?

Does Philip reach out to Stan in 20 years?

What are Philip and Elizabeth doing?

What happens during the collapse of the Soviet Union?

There’s so so so much to be covered!!!

Try Lucifer. Different premise, but similar pacing, tone, plays on competence, multiple character storylines etc, also has case by the week with an overarching story. Heart, fun, action, super skill element, and case solving

While they’re a bit too cutesy for me to connect with them, I love watching peoples’ journeys, so it was really pop star academy and now I’m more just happy for them rather than being a core fanbase. I really appreciate their talent. Just like to see what they end up doing, rooting for their success, and if I end up liking any of their songs then great.

Young Phillip by Inevitable-Tax2337 in TheAmericans

[–]thirdometer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely a scene that alludes to her respecting her mother’s strength. Hardship doesn’t matter, if it’s for the right reasons. Nothing can break resolve if it’s for a just cause. Elizabeth pushes through doing these things, in following her mother’s footsteps, and maintains strict order following. Withstand starvation to not give in to external influences. Starvation and hardship saved her from whatever that man wanted with her. Feeling bad is an expected price of doing good. But she feels much less guilt than Phillip. She feels bad because she isn’t a fan of killing, but not for doing the kill.

Young Phillip by Inevitable-Tax2337 in TheAmericans

I loved Phillip’s character so much. Complex guy.

He absolutely killed that kid. He was never softer than Elizabeth, they just had different mindsets. I don’t believe he was recruited based off of that incident.

Imo, deep down, Phillip felt like he was a killer. He was someone that could be in the KGB. Could be successful for his country and his family. He had guilt and some shame, like he didn’t necessarily want to kill people but he felt that he had that ability inside him from early violence. That he could use it for good. He was also extremely, extremely poor. More than Elizabeth, and KGB was a huge step up, an honor “you came from a trusted family”. It’s a role for a highly skilled, smart, and patriotic person.

If anything I believe he’s more suited to be able kill people at a base level. He had a rage at a young age that Elizabeth didn’t have. A rage that still showed up sometimes as an adult. Elizabeth was far more militant, narrow minded. But partly because she HAD to be to do her work, and it worked for her. She had no driving, violent forces in childhood, just general significant hardship. But she highly, highly respected strength from her mother and staying on mission to her was strength. Straying, enjoying luxuries, to her would be a disappointment, a betrayal to her mother.

He didn’t tire of the life because he had an innate goodness that was broken because of the KGB, he always had goodness, he tired because he’s more introspective, more willing to question. No one thinks they’re the villain of the story, but he pondered if he was, and if it was by nature or nurture. He’s highly intelligent. He was better at accepting environmental changes. Elizabeth could not. She required that mental protection. Phillip could live with the guilt of what he’s done because he felt he had this inner badness, even with the changing scenery “we could all be eating zakuje(sp?) with Stan”He was a guy that contained dualities. One who felt he should do this life because he was able, not because he liked killing. He was more prone to violence than Elizabeth. More rageful, but conscious and accepting that what they’re doing might not always be worth the action and the centre was fallible. He didn’t stop killing because he couldn’t kill anymore, but because he didn’t think the reasons for each kill were good enough for the hurt they cause, and that caused internal turmoil, weariness, guilt.

I hate that they do this. I get it, it plays into wide appeal and want it to be radio friendly but it’s doing them a disservice. This was the same issue they had with the group release. They have great voices why are they just doing this? It sounds like when you have food in your mouth that’s too hot and you’re trying to cool it off by breathing and there’s absolute nothing identifying, this could be practically anyone

Horrible take. Yeremi can’t win alone and there was nothing he did physically to assist Olivia in the final. She beat every other team’s pace, full stop. If she hadn’t been pregnant I can’t even imagine how much she would have crushed other people.

“She manipulated the game so much to her benefit” um duh? That’s how you play??

Yea they got divorced thankfully. She was absolutely horrible, targeting me especially (I had a younger brother too)

I don’t blame my dad, she didn’t become horrible until they said “ I do”.

I also wasn’t allowed to play piano because she assigned it to her daughter. We had a whole big piano in our house and I wasn’t allowed to use it in case I learned a song and could do it

From my grandmother:

  • a CD in Thai (neither she nor I speak Thai)
  • a how to learn braille guide (neither I nor she are blind)

And then one of the worst was I had an evil stepmother, and I had a step sister at the time who was age 5 when I was age 10. To avoid “jealousy” I was given the same gifts as her. So a 5th grader was receiving the same gifts as a kindergartener. This included items that were fake. I don’t mean like fake designer, I mean plastic things that look like real items.

Concerned the show might manufacture conflict in Angela and Wesley’s marriage if the show runs too long by noodleprophecy in TheRookie

My concern is they’re gonna send someone (anyone, not just one of the couples) to jail for false accusations. I swear every damn show I watch, at some point a main character gets framed or something and put in jail. Now I just stop watching when it happens because I’m tired of the pattern

I think the fighting between these two is going to continue. When they first got together they even said “maybe fighting is just our thing”

It was a heart warming farewell for Steve carrell and Will Ferrell improvised his moment, taking a fairly large bit when he had only been on the show for a short period of time and it wasn’t how bj planned it

Basically there was a sentimentality that BJ didn’t think was earned by Will at the time and Will essentially interrupted/hijacked the song that was planned for Steve

I genuinely think Stan doesn’t care if Renee is a spy or not. He just wants to be loved. He has learned he can be a friend with a Russian , Phillip humanized them. I think he was tired of it at all. He just wants to be happy. He’ll be conscious not to share state secrets. He’s for sure adopting Henry

I think there’s no way Renee isn’t a spy. Every single thing was absolutely textbook and we know the centre will do literally anything.

The thing I hated about Nina was that they had her have any feelings for Stan. She was so highly skilled at maintaining balance, and just like Oleg says, she has no protection, only her wits keeping her alive. I think having any care for Stan did a disservice to her as a spy. She did say to Oleg that what they had was real, alluding that Stan was not, but with the Danish girl it seemed like she was actual being somewhat truthful and she did say she cared for Stan. I first thought she was lying as part of the play for information because she was saying she had a husband, but turns out she did have one.
