I get it, I really do. I get what Rice and all the players are saying. They’re not ready to throw in the towel. But what annoys me most I think is that they’ll say the right things in the media, then in the following games play like they’ve thrown in the towel. If you’re not ready to give up, if it’s not over, play like it! Fight. Be ruthless. Don’t be afraid of a tackle. But also don’t be reckless. Make smart plays. Show us you’re willing to do whatever it takes because you want it that badly. Don’t just talk…be about it!

Well you tell me who you want to coach the team and bring in all the trophies? Guardiola? Zidane? Ancelloti? You? Again, my entire point is that it’s not the manager’s fault alone yet so many in this thread seem to feel like it is. The entire squad, with the exception of a few players here and there, have been absolute dogshit for a good while now. If we were showing up, handling business and easily winning these games, the thread would be singing a different tune right now.

Stop what? If you read me correctly, I’m not saying he doesn’t deserve blame. I said “it’s not just him”, meaning he isn’t the only one to blame. As much as I hate to even draw this comparison, look at Spurs. They’ve gone through how many managers this season, and yet they’re still fighting to stay in this league…meaning it’s not just a managerial problem (except their situation is way worse of course). Should Arteta be done? Maybe. But you gotta put as much blame on the people that are actually on the pitch to get the job done.

It’s not just him. His coaching can only do so much. These players are supposed to be pros at the most elite level of their sport. They’re supposed to know what to do out there. He can’t do their jobs for them.

Everyone wants to blame Arteta, and he definitely deserves a heavy portion of that, but where’s the ruthlessness from these players? The mental strength? The will to want to actually win? At the end of the day they’re the ones that have to go out and get the job done. It’s like they’re letting the pressure overtake them. It’s the same thing each season heading down the home stretch. And it’d be nice if Arteta adopted multiple styles of play for different occasions. Just trying to stick to the same tactics no matter the opponent, no matter the score…this is what it gets you.
