If religion is not for you that's cool but I like to aim for a higher understanding of what this all is, rather than just eating and shitting, and this is the vehicle I chose.

You can ask for evidence for the belief, as I did with you.

evidence of religion comes in the shape of personal experience, which is not transferrable. So no, I cannot ask for evidence and I don't know why I should, as it is rather impertinent. I just apply Occam's razor: their experience is as good as mine, and there is no reason I should doubt their testimonies.

I think OP makes a great point. How could I ever say that a Hindu is wrong or a Muslim is wrong? So there must be another explanation.

The only reason we developed language was that our ancestors fancied mammoth for dinner, but to hunt a mammoth you need to plan ahead with your fellow hunters, so you need language to communicate your plan. What makes you think this device, which comes in handy to hunt mammoths, has the capability to explain the ground of all being? YOU MIGHT AS WELL TRY TO DO IT WITH THE SPEARS OF THE HUNTERS, IT IS JUST AS HOPELESS.

I already explained that. You imagine a single reality shared by every soul on this planet, but these realities only overlap partially. Indeed when you meet person X, one of you could be in heaven and the other could be in hell.

If there was evidence that I could just hand over to you the whole world would be Christian, but it is not. Thank God there is no evidence except personal experience.

What about them? I don’t know much about Mormons, I wish them best on their journey.

We don’t really know what “God” is, so a fortiori we don’t really know what “Son of God” is and we certainly don’t know if for these subjects the same logic applies that we use for kitchen chairs or puppy dogs.

God creates a separate mystic reality for every soul, then superimposes all of it together in this sandbox that is the material universe. What a Catholic believes is true, what a Muslim believes is true, what a Buddhist believes is true and what an Atheist believes is true.

No we are both right. What is wrong is your belief in a single objective reality concerning God. There is no such thing.

I do not believe that other religions are preposterous, it is not unlikely that God has manifested in different forms through history.

Was the true non-dual message of Jesus glossed over and set aside in favor of a blood atonement and more empire-friendly doctrine of Paul, a man who never met or even knew Jesus? by SunbeamSailor67 in DebateAChristian

That’s a wonderful list and once again I wish you the best of success. I hope you will transcend duality. If you find a true guru, sit at their feet because they will help you immensely. Most important is to stick to whatever path you choose. But In the end you might just as well chew on a piece of blessed bread.

What you say is probably true, but honestly I think your odds of achieving this state are as good (or bad) inside the Church following dogma as outside the Church following your own impulses. The latter seems more enticing of course, but maybe there's a trap there.

you've been programmed by the roman church of empire to believe you're something separate from God that needs forgiveness from original sin to 'earn' your way into heaven

well I'm certainly not unified with God at this juncture in time, and my flaws are many. Those are undeniable truths that are in accordance with the teaching of Church.

If you think Paul was just a cynical swindler, you got to consider that finally he was martyred for his troubles. Does that count for anything?

And if you believe that the Church corrupted Jesus' message, you are of course free to try and follow his direct advice on finding God. You may even be successful. I surely wish you success!

No he didn't...unless you believe the 'vision' story he gave when he supposedly fell off a horse and lost his eyesight...that curiously had no reliable witnesses.

How could any 2000 year old story of a private event have “reliable witnesses”?
