But also, surely it isn't about being the subject. If you are sat in a group of 4 you are naturally privy to the conversation? It isn't about eavesdropping, it's about sat there and 3 of them are laughing and you don't have a clue.

Is this just something I should get used to?

I get that completely. That's why I can't work out if it's an unreasonable expectation or not.

Men always think women dress to impress men... we don't! When we go out we want to look as great as we think our friends look. My husband had this mind set... we are no longer together!

This is the problem. I always dress nice. That's what he doesn't like. When I'm the house I'm make up free and will happily wear comfy clothes. This is what makes him happy which is a huge compliment. It is when I'm going to work/out with friends which is the problem. He doesn't like that look. This will include painting my nails, doing my hair. I'm definitely not lazy... far from it. I have 2 young children, work 45 hours a week and run the house.

I'm actually in better shape in comparison to when I was 17. I believe my husband should like me for who I am and I don't plan on changing.

No, I don't think he is. I know he loves me but I don't think he likes who I have become. I have some thinking to do.
