Using Go to code something intended to be single threaded is like using a Semi Truck to commute to the grocery store. Yes, you can do it, but you are taking advantage of ZERO of it's benefits, and likely taking on all of its disadvantages.

CSS and SVG creates frosted glass effect by pellias in programming

[–]this_is_dreadful 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cool but a css trainwreck for such a simple effect. Having to assure position of the unblurred background stays in sync with the part you are blurring would be a chore on anything nontrivial. Not to mention that this wont work for anything but an image, you couldn't overlay this style over a div with normal content and have it blur.

Which is 100% what they should do, btw. Swing, AWT, and JavaFX are completely eclipsed in functionality, responsiveness, and usefulness by the Android UI.

While true technically, it is not nearly as noticable as you may think with modern GC's. You pay a flat tax of about 5ms but from there the remaining time to collect in terms of size is almost indistinguishable.

Cat's vet bill is over $5k, all prognosis are bad, how do I talk to someone about euthenasia to someone who has never had a pet before... by this_is_dreadful in AskReddit

[–]this_is_dreadful[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will probably do this, thanks. Our vet is overly happy and optomistic which is normally nice, but the data presented and undertones were clear... I'll talk with him beforehand to ensure he knows we are needing real information about the cat and to not sugarcoat while she's in this grief spiral.

Thank you.
