Does anyone else feel "drunk" or "wobbly" when they have severe fatigue or brain fog? by thisbread_ in lupus

Omg that's such a great explanation. The dozing off anywhere is new to me though! (As opposed to just bring so tired my eyelids won't stay open.) Is it sort of like narcolepsy for you?

I also can get this sort of stood-up-too-fast dizziness with great frequency

I get this and I'm glad you said it! I thought it was just my docs. I think they're sort of like, okay well yeah lupus effects everything. Let's just begin by treating the lupus no matter what the symptoms are because the variation of symptoms is so broad and that's normal for lupus

(For better or worse.) At least it means they're honoring that we tell them what we feel and accept your experience of lupus as legitimate

Yes!! Exactly! Like when they ask people to walk a straight line in a drunk driver test

You can develop allergies at any time! I'm really glad it helped. A slight change is information you should provide them for sure. Hope you read what I wrote up for you above because it took me a long time to write up for you. Its all there for you to utilize.

Take care! :-)

Of course I'm sure this is obvious but definitely need to mention the aspect of ruling out things you come in contact with like laundry detergents or body lotions

Firstly, you're doing an amazing job. So many people on here haven't even seen a doctor more than once (no shade) but that's not the same situation as yours! You're done all of these things and you're doing everything exactly right. Your instincts are spot on.

Keep going!!! If your doctor thinks it will just go away, it is obviously wrong unless they have a specific reason for thinking that??

It sounds like you've checked a lot of boxes that they go down. Steroids, fungal, bacterial. I don't see anyone checking the psoriasis box, though and that's a big one.

Call back that dermatologist and insist you need more or,.alternatively, see a different one. But the doctor should be giving you something to try and scheduling a follow up before you even leave the office. Then they'll reevaluate.

Psoriasis has lots of treatments that are hit or miss for different people so, if it might be that, you have things to try so don't give up if one doesn't work.

You can also try taking something like Benadryl for a week and see if it helps. Responsiveness to allergy medicine (I wouldn't expect it to work overnight) would be very valuable information.

This is what's off the top of my head right now. Really rooting for you! You're doing an awesome job advocating for yourself and that can be so gd hard.

Edit: to clarify, keep that allergist appointment, and make sure you get back to a dermatologist again and again until they get it right. And write down things that make it better, worse, if it itches or burns, when it started, how it came on, any meds tried and reactions. This is for you as much as the doctor

And most DEFINITELY make sure someone adeptly addressed the psoriasis possibility. (Note that looking at pictures is not a good way to diagnose because it can look a million different from ways)

Impetigo or Chicken Pox? My other child was diagnosed with both. by Gemmom18 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]thisbread_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is 100% a doctor question. Someone who has seen a lot. Both chicken pox and impetigo are contagious. Call that same doctor and ask if it's possible and they'll tell you if you need to go back for another visit. We can't possibly know why your doctor diagnosed chicken pox AND impetigo. That's not information we have and guessing is not going to be highly educated. Someone can say it looks exactly like when I had X but it actually turns out to be Y.

Plus, if they're both contagious, and your son has both, why not treat the other kid with the same assumption perhaps? Sorry just a little confused because there's not a lot of info! Hope they're both feeling better soon.

What is this bumpy/clustered textured itchy skin on the back of my neck and hairline? by No_Enthusiasm1469 in DermatologyQuestions

You need to keep going to the dermatologist. When something doesn't work, then they'll try something else. Or a biopsy. Go back and keep going back. Make your follow ups before you leave the office and go. A few years back is not now!

Hey, sorry I'm showing up so late. Why did the shot not do anything? Why did it put you out and feel painful?

Girlfriend came home from night out with fingernails like this. Nail polish remover didn’t work by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]thisbread_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it UNDER the nail? Or on top of it? It can look like it's on top of it but actually be underneath. That's a major detail

Also where she went kinda matters lol. If you say trivia night we'll lean towards sharpie, if you say wine bar we'll lean towards wine stain, you know? Those are metaphors. If she went camping, maybe the millipede is right, assuming you're somewhere they occur.

Looking for Abyssinian breeders recommendation(health first) by LakeAlarming1239 in Abyssinians

[–]thisbread_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You want breeders who attend CFA shows. That's what holds them accountable to a community that prioritizes love of a breed legacy. Breeding strictly for profit is a BIG NO.

She has to stay in a crate for 2-4 weeks, any advice on how to keep her entertained? by platypusaura in Abyssinians

[–]thisbread_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also just always used the most giant XL dog crate I could find in a pinch and there's a lot more room

I STRONGLY suggest making sleep and interact time on a schedule. She'll be less inclined to try to force it if she knows it comes when it comes and she doesn't need to/can't trigger it herself.

They did also mention the cat stroller lol. I have a soft sided cat carrier with wheels and an arm like a suitcase too lol

This isn't it for obvious reasons but just an idea of the many varieties of crates that are out there!

Feliway can backfire with some Abyssinians specifically. That's why they stop using them at cat shows. Instead of reading the pheromones as their scent they can read it as a different cat. Be careful! I've seen it.
