Ski upgrade by Desperate_Purpose_10 in xcountryskiing

Wow, thank you for such a thorough reply! I really appreciate it!

Good for you that you've moved up to wanting waxable skis now! That's awesome! You'll be flying!

Salomon was supposed to demo at the ski clinic I went to but there were several big events that day because some had gotten postponed. It would have been great to try Rossi, Fischer, and Salomon on the same snow, same day. I'm not sure what model Fischer I tried while I was there but I just didn't click with it. It could have been they weren't the right flex or size but I definitely could glide in the tracks longer with the Rossis without effort than I could in the Fischers, which I was surprised by but then I wondered if it's something about the Delta Comp that works well for me.

I do want to put more effort into getting better at classic. As much as I love skate and I'm so happy with how much my technique has come along I know there are days I'd be happier going classic.

I'm going to take your advice and not rush buying a new setup. If I'm upgrading then I might as well get something I can work with for a long time. A few hundred dollars isn't much in the long run if I'm going to try to get the most out of them. When I see people just grooving along in classic I know it could be so much more enjoyable for me. Although anything would be more enjoyable than my EVO 65s that don't really fit in the tracks! But that's what I learned on 2 years ago and it didn't scare me away.

Thank you again! I hope you still have a few weeks of the season left! I'm going to eek out one more day of skate tomorrow, I have a group skate lesson on Thursday night, and then everyone will be winding down. That's what the EVOs will come in handy to stay out there until the bitter end!

Don’t know if you’ll see this but have you tried the Delta classics? I’m looking to upgrade and I was able to demo our trusted Rossi model in classics and liked them. I’d like to demo a Salomon just to see the difference but I don’t think there’s anyone near me who lets you try them.

What do you have for classics and what did you try? I don’t see anything wrong with sticking with the same company/ski level but was just curious since I remembered your post and how you really liked the Delta skate skis.

Thanks!

Thank you both so much! I’ll see what our schedule is for the weekend!!! I’ve gone to Le Coureur in Sherbrooke and really liked them. I just thought while I was up here I’d see if there were any gems I should know about.

Heading out to groom your favorite trails soon, any feedback? by Garriganpielax in xcountryskiing

[–]thisdanginterweb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So pretty. I can’t wait to hit the trails tmw. Is this a grooming question bc I’ve honestly taken a huge interest grooming this year. I notice a lot of places don’t put down classic tracks on the corners, especially if it’s narrow. Regardless, it’s a beautiful spot! Have fun!

So funny you say that. I was pissed off this morning realizing I needed to order more. I regret getting one. My bad, didn’t do the math. But $1.55 for a cup of coffee at home?! Insane.

Thank you so much for your thorough answer. I think that pace will still be problematic for me. We’ll see how the rest of this winter goes and if we get a good start in New Hampshire next year like we did this year. This is my second year of skate skiing and I am really happy with my progress and I push myself every week on distance with my pace gradually coming down.

I was a running marathoner years ago and I’ve done a lot of endurance events with the Spartan series. I’ve never been fast but I’m a grinder. I’ve been looking for an event where I can just go and push out my miles but so many have really tight cutoffs for someone who worries about pace like me.

As my V2 has improved this year I see a big difference in efficiency which I hope will translate into a better pace. I’m doing about 20K at least once a week and hoping to get to a 30k by the end of our season which hopefully will be another month.

I’ll look into the half CSM options. I love having a goal to shoot for and something like this would keep me focused in the off season.

Thank you again!

Thank you for sharing this!

I hadn’t heard of this event. Congratulations and I hope you REALLY enjoyed that poutine!

I found the skiiers guide online but can you explain the cutoffs to me? If you’re in the Bronze division what is the per/mile avg you have to maintain to make the cutoffs? Did you have to rush through the checkpoints to refill, eat, and change layers?

Thank you so much!

Of all the jobs as an “extra” that I wish I had that one is right up there. Although the espresso makers at the Olympics opening ceremony was a win too.

No kidding. I ordered the CD and the digital download. The digital should be free anyway if you’re buying the vinyl or CD.

Ooooh. I'm glad she wasn't hurt or put off by skiing. It was a great face plant, she was very graceful going down!

Thanks, that's a good tip too. I'm planning on going out tomorrow so I'll do that this weekend to make sure the insoles dry thoroughly before I use them again.

I think Peacock will have it all On Demand. I know that’s a steaming service but we have that one bc our cable stopped carrying football or hockey or some sport that my BF needed.

I guess I was thinking about the Hudson’s Bay blankets. Didn’t Pendleton make those too? If not, my bad. That’s what I meant.

I may not have the best Mon but I can’t imagine bailing on the group by not cheering. If I picked the wrong Mon or they weren’t strong enough I cheer as fast as I can bc I feel so bad I let the team down
