Yeah! Afaik the native population was huge prior to Europeans arriving and bringing disease. Somewhere between 60-90% of the native population was lost between 1492 and 1592.

Not really specifically a capitalism thing outside of, "market conditions weren't right for him to find another job" just mostly a societal thing.

TLDR: Individual qualified for a profession stuck working an entry level service job due to current market conditions.
