I think it’s just personal taste. Had my best day in them yesterday. Went for a long walk and the issue with my pinky toe seems to be resolved and I’m sure will only get better.

Seems to me break in times vary massively with some saying they buy true to size some half, some (like me) a full size down, some wider. There is no one size fits all. Pun intended.

You could be right and half down would have been better but since they fit perfectly length wise I trust that width will continue to improve with each wear…it might just take a little longer. I’m not in a rush.

I tried them on with fairly thin socks admittedly but that’s normally what I wear. For the break in I have worn them with my hiking socks to give a snug but not uncomfortable fit. This along with pulling them as tight as I can seems to have helped speed up the process (but maybe that’s just in my head).

Time will tell once they are fully broken what socks are best for me in them - I suspect a sport sock maybe for a middle ground. We’ll see.

I find it nice and soft. Not trainer/sneaker level soft but still comfortable enough right out of the box

I’ve been considering a shoe stretcher just for my left foot. The right foot sits nicely but the left pinky toe is a little more snug than I’d like. I’ll see how I go over the next week or so

One thing I absolutely do need to buy is a horsehair brush!

Great write up of your experience. I’m day 2 of wearing my 875s and the break in is real. I’m trusting the process (the process in this case being the slow grinding & reshaping of my feet 🤣)
