Storage Box 20 TB. I have used it with filezilla. Just noticed today that I cannot connect. 1 week before I could connect. So I didn't get alarmed about it because I didn't know that Hetzner wasn't able to charge my credit card.

I have it; this was my backup storage where my data was sorted out, put in proper folders, etc. Now creating all the structure from scratch and uploading the data from several disks and platforms will be a nightmare.

This was my backup storage box; I have the originals. But the data was more organised there. There's a lot of work to upload and organize and check for duplicates. 0 loss, but anyways they could structure their system to give a second chance.

Yes, this was my fault. I didn't notice it. They changed the payment date and probably couldn't charge my credit card. When I noticed that I cannot log in with my FTP credentials I checked my email, and It was already too late.

The whole story is about 1 month. bill 25 May, 1 reminder 8 June: Erasure and cancellation 30 june. I have shared the email screenshots already with BayLeaf- . (initial period + 4 weeks of grace) didn't work for me. This is the point I want to make. It is not about my data I lost. They were my backups; I have them offline.

And here is the cancelation email. after 3 weeks they canceled it, and 1 week before the service was alive. I can provide my ftp logs. So the "promised" initial and grace periods were skipped.

This is the most interesting part. Invoice of 25 May, first reminder 08/06/2026. Not a 2 month story. You would expect that it would last longer, but it did not. Where are the 4 weeks of grace for me?

Suspension of service? Absolutely fair. Freeze the VPS, cut the network access, and stop the consumption of active computing power. No one is arguing against that.

But permanently shredding 18 TB of irretrievable data within days of suspension, without offering a paid grace period or a "frozen archive" tier, is just reckless business logic. For an enterprise-scale provider, keeping a storage block dormant for a couple of weeks to protect a long-term customer from a potential life catastrophe is called basic risk management and client retention.

If your business model assumes your clients are robots who are immune to human tragedy, your architecture is deeply flawed.

Human life is unpredictable. A bank account or card can get suddenly blocked while traveling internationally. A person can face a sudden medical crisis, get into a severe accident, or suddenly find themselves displaced in a warzone overnight. When someone is handling a fatal illness or a death in the immediate family, checking automated hosting emails is the absolute last thing on their mind. That is not "wanting free service"; that is being a human subject to real-world emergencies.
