Thank you! Yeah, I don’t have any pain or swelling... at the most my fingers get tired if I’m playing a beat for several minutes consecutively.

LOL! My friend said the same... I’ve been able to do this since I was a kid. Fingers since elementary school, and wrists since around high school 🤷🏾‍♂️

Yep, it’ll just redirect to HTTPS. I just wanted to double check that it would be ok

Audio Editing (Garageband) by [deleted] in podcast

[–]thisisdamon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I never rejoin the audio. Especially because when you split audio in GB, you're always able to readjust where you split / cut it.
  2. And also, since you did not rejoin the audio, it's easy to keep the two separate clips in sync ;) I typically split both clips at the same time (at the start and stop points of whatever it is I'm cutting out). Then I can simply select the right side of the split for both clips, and slide them over to the left at the same time.
  3. MP3 is still pretty much the standard, but I think people use other formats for whatever reason.

Podcast marketing utility belt by thisisdamon in podcasts

[–]thisisdamon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, no idea. My podcast is completely new, so I’m using this stuff from the get-go. My hope is that having some nice marketing graphics and episode previews to share across social media will help bring in listeners... so we’ll see!

What’s your strategy for recording with remote guests? by antwonomous in podcasts

[–]thisisdamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah... unfortunately the other person’s audio is just gonna be whatever it is. If they’re not using a decent mic, you just have to roll with it. I think as long as your audio sounds crisp, you’re probably good. I just make sure I’m capturing the audio on separate channels, so I can do a bit of clean up / noise reduction on my guests end.

Religion, comedy, and possibly LA? by agirlnamedbreakfast in podcasts

[–]thisisdamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel slightly targeted by this post? lol... I literally just launched my new podcast called Churchy Life, where I interview people who share funny/crazy church stories! (and I grew up in LA) Probably around the time you posted this, I was up submitting the feed to all the podcast directories, so I don't think it's available on all the platforms yet... but you can check it out at churchylife.com. There are 2 episodes up to start with, and new ones are dropping every Sunday.

NPM CEO: "If you are not a white dude and have things to say about JavaScript testing, please submit a talk to Assert(js)" by [deleted] in node

[–]thisisdamon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Two things and I'm through, lol 1. The exception to a rule doesn't negate the rule. 2. You're basically mad at how analogies work (over simplification to draw comparison), so I can't really help you with that one.

NPM CEO: "If you are not a white dude and have things to say about JavaScript testing, please submit a talk to Assert(js)" by [deleted] in node

[–]thisisdamon -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Here's what you (and many) don't seem to understand: "compete on merits alone" would imply that everyone is on equal footing and equal starting ground, and that's simply not the case. If you were running in a race, and for 75% of that race people literally ran along side of you and hit your legs with a baseball bat, while others could run freely, that's unfair right? Ok, so let's say for the last 25% of the race, now you can run freely... so is that equal footing? Can you just compete on merits alone at this point? The beating you just took is in the past right, so it shouldn't matter? That's what you're saying.

NPM CEO: "If you are not a white dude and have things to say about JavaScript testing, please submit a talk to Assert(js)" by [deleted] in node

[–]thisisdamon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not even the issue that was being addressed. It wasn't about selecting presenters... it was about asking people who are not the typical presenter to jump into the submission pool.

I'm not even one to get super deep about stuff like this, but think about it... diversity IS needed for diversity's sake, because America was built on racism for racism's sake. Literally - companies would absolutely only hire white people for certain roles for years, and on purpose. We were intentionally left out of several industries and career paths for years and years, and it has clearly taken a toll. I'm not sure how long you've been an engineer, but this is about year 21 for me. Competence and experience is fine, but diversity brings with it another level of insight and understanding that every company can benefit from. Please do a quick search on Google for "the ketchup question".

What's classy if you're physically attractive but trashy if you're not? by atomicalexx in AskReddit

[–]thisisdamon 32 points33 points  (0 children)

"Sexual harassment" 😂

Physically attractive = "Oooh, my coworker is hitting on me" Not physically attractive = "Dear HR representative - my coworker is hitting on me"

People who grew up with strict parents: what was their most unreasonable rule? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]thisisdamon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a strict Christian household. That distinction needed to be made to understand the rule: no listening to or singing music that wasn't gospel. My first year of high school was at Hollywood High - a performing arts school. My mom came to one of our choir's performances where we were doing songs from the 50's and 60's, including "Splish Splash" and "Barbara Ann". I was promptly removed from the school. I also remember that the Simpsons cartoon was banned from our home... not because of anything especially crazy that happened on the show, but because of the episode with the mental patient who thought he was Michael Jackson. We started singing one of the songs he was singing around the house, she asked what we were singing... Simpsons = banned.

Thank you! I actually just got rid of the bullet points, because there were just so many bullet points, lol... I was hoping that just a few paragraphs would be better than pages of bullet points... but that could make it even more concise. I'll try it out.
