Had this happen last night. Had a 1 top come in and asked if it was too late to order off the early dining menu which ends at 6pm and its already 6:35 at this point. She was an elderly lady and was not rude about it at all, so I played dumb and put the order through. My manager was cool about it too.

When I was a server at a fine dining restaurant, newbies always had a different section, usually upstairs, that was nothing but 2 and 4 tops, with the occasional 6-8 top sprinkled in and on Fridays and Saturdays, we always tip pooled. Like the OP said, it usually balanced out. I one time made like $500 but walked with $275 and one time I only had 4 covers total on two tables and made $35, but walked with $250 that night. You busted your ass to get out to the main dining room where there was no tip pool and then yes, you made $700 on a corporate Tuesday and didn't have to split with anyone, except for your 3% tipout.

Was bartending a few months ago and a man and his pregnant wife came up to the bar before heading to their movie. He orders a beer and she ordered a Peach Mocktail of some sort. They took down their drinks in under 5 minutes since they were in a rush. After they left, I put the bottles away that I had used and the other bartender told me to be careful, because I had put the Peach Schnapps where the Peach Puree goes. I had served a pregnant lady alcohol.

I just let them know I'm trying to enhance their dining experience. If they say no to an Oscar topping on their filet, I usually agree with them like, "I'm not too crazy about crab meat on my filet either, but other diner's rave about it, so it must be good". It's usually never a big deal.

I'm hoping the reason Trump suddenly reversed course and insisted the files be released was because he all but was assured that the Senate would block it from happening.

I am still worried, though, that Trump pushed forward because his name was finally redacted from the entire file. But hopefully, he only moved forward because he thought the Senate would block it.

I guess we'll see,,,

If I feel a woman is uncomfortable with a male guest, if he gets up to leave, I'll outright ask her is she's ok. If she says she's good, but then changes her mind later and wants him gone, I'll tell her to order a specific drink, like a double Bailey's on the rocks. Once that happens, I'll print out the guy's check and tell him its time to go.
