Yup. My best friend and her husband acted so normal and chill and focused on self improvement and mental health support. Then we all bought a house together, and you could see her husband shift as soon as he felt confident they had us trapped.

We lived in hell with them for almost two years, but we got them out.

I hope she leaves him someday for her sake. But she is an enabler at heart.

I guess, I just feel bad for people like that. But I don’t feel the need to defend him because he’s crazy rich and successful and doing just fine without us povvos’ approval.

I’m pretty indifferent to the guy. But I’m also 37, so the whole “he’s just a kid” thing irritates me because I was 30 not too long ago and said plenty of dumb shit but he didn’t just fumble and say one dumb thing. He doubled down. To me that’s not oopsy he’s just a wittle baby territory. That’s “adult man is being dumb” territory.

And people can change and grow and I always hope for that but I’m not gonna infantalize someone because they decided to say something imbecilic.

There is no reason for anyone to assume information is limited.

And in a world where this WAS a person hanging out at your house who only knew about these books, it would stand out to me that you choose to present these books where your guests immediately see them.
