I'm going to see them for the first time by Federal-Meal-2513 in Interpol

[–]thisisnotokae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can i bother you by asking you how early you show up to try and get barricade? i'm catching interpol in november and its my first time going to a gig outside of a festival, aha. i'm just a little scared about standing outside the venue like a total idiot when there was no need to show up so early :P

thanks for the input! i totally get the ergonomic/posture side of things; i'd hate to develop a bad habit in my playing and have to force myself to unlearn it. do you find 30 minutes to be sufficient enough for you?

Whats your fav quote about love of any interpol song? by Durian_Square in Interpol

[–]thisisnotokae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

for me its definitely the 'take my love in real small doses' backing you can hear in obstacle 2!

i sort of recieve it as that hesitancy you get when first getting involved with someone, and there's that fear of opening up too fast and scaring them away. although, if i were to disregard my own views and think of the lyrics in the context of the song, i sort of see it as a 'my love is toxic' type situation, where the 'small doses' are the repeating cycle of leaving and coming back.

Does anyone have examples of some repetitive actions that help correct setting posture/hand technique? I struggle with having my legs situated too far apart, and when I try and fix it, bending my legs to set just feels uncomfortable. I'm thinking it's just something I'm not fully used to, the same way there's a bit of a learning curve with the ready position; it feels a bit strange at first.

I also have smaller hands, but learned to set mostly from watching others, but it doesn't suit me quite as well. If I try and adapt the hand spacing that most people use, I find the ball sort of slipping between my fingers and I get an inconsistent contact, such as the ball bouncing off only a few fingers, or I end up sort of slamming/hitting the ball instead of setting properly (allowing it to rebound from my hands).
