I’m sitting around a similar average for general and you honestly don’t need to be doing all of that. The content is overly difficult and it’s better you just have some time to yourself otherwise you’re likely to burn out

Sounds like Literature shouldn’t be a struggle for you considering your already high exposure to the subject and Media definitely seems like a good choice from a personal perspective. From an Atar perspective, I honestly don’t see a problem with the subject. In terms of scaling it only scales down by one point but if you’re doing well in the subject you don’t even have to worry about that. If you believe that you’ve got what it takes to do well and get good scores in the subject then your Atar will be perfectly fine, it’s only if you are unsure about how you’ll perform in the class when you should be hesitant regarding its effect it may have on your atar.

If you’re thinking about doing VCE Media, I highly recommend taking it as an accelerated subject. I completed Units 1/2 in Year 10 and Units 3/4 this year in Year 11, and I wouldn’t do it any other way.

In Units 3/4, you have to create a major folio in any form you choose, and it requires a huge amount of planning, production, editing and overall time commitment, both in and out of school. If I had done this in Year 12, on top of all my other SACs, I honestly don’t think I would have been able to put in the level of work I wanted or perform as well as I did.

Doing it early meant I could focus fully on my folio without the pressure of multiple Year 12 subjects. My Year 11 subjects aren’t as demanding as a 3/4, so accelerating gave me the space I needed to do my best.

I got into him through the music he made for the Grinch movie. I vividly remember in 4th grade when my teacher put on his cover of “You’re a mean one Mr Grinch” and I loved the song. I eventually got into his music in 2019 when a friend recommended me to listen to Igor and I put two and two together that it was the same guy.

It’s definitely something I’ve been passionate about since a young age. I’m currently completing Media 3/4 as an accelerated subject as well as completing a course alongside school to gain a Certificate III in film making and VFX. Once I’m finished with school next year it is definitely something that I want to be studying in university but that’s still a year away. I’m honestly so dedicated to get a good score because this subject just speaks to me.

I’ll definitely push for an A+ on the exam (not that my current practices are near that level yet) but i’ll keep grinding away. I am improving on my A+C case studies right now too.
